Walt Alston drove me crazy when he managed the Dodgers and left pitchers in too long. The worst ever was when Don Drysdale was warming up in the bullpen. Alston left the very wild Stan Williams in, the Dodgers blew a 2-run lead in the 9th, and Williams walked in the go-ahead run. Drysdale was being saved the World Series. Many of us wanted Alston's head on a plate.
