WASHINGTON, Oct. 14 (UPI) -- U.S. Rep. Mary Bono, R-Calif., announced Tuesday she will not try to take on two-term incumbent U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer in 2004.
Bono, who followed her late husband Sonny Bono into Congress in the special election following his death, said that her rising seniority and the rigors of raising the funds for an effective campaign weighed against a senate bid.
