Coulter is clearly very bright and obviously glamourous. She is very good at entertaining her audience and selling lots of books to it. I don't know how many people she pursuades, however.

The Problem the Liberals have with Coulter is that she is 100% correct about them. They cry and whine over her rethoric, but can't deny any of it

Does anybody persuade anybody anymore?
The problem with politics today is that it's gone from arguing about the issues and the best way of facing them to attacks about people.
Ann C. is certainly not the first, and regrettably won't be the last, but she's playing the same game.

She's got good points, but she's just another polarizer.

It opens with guns blazing: "Liberals have a preternatural gift for striking a position on the side of treason. You could be talking about Scrabble and they would instantly leap to the anti-American position. Everyone says liberals love America, too. No they don’t. Whenever the nation is under attack, from within or without, liberals side with the enemy. This is their essence." And so it goes, for nearly 300 more pages: "They are either traitors or idiots, and on the matter of America’s self-preservation, the difference is irrelevant. Fifty years of treason hasn’t slowed them down."

Coulter’s sweeping generalizations, which can’t distinguish Democratic Cold Warriors from Democratic fellow travelers, have alienated even some of her usual supporters (though not Hannity).

A typical sneaky tactic by a lib. Notice how he correctly quotes Ann talking about "liberals", but then switches to "Democratic" in attacking her.

The difference between liberal mean-spiritedness and conservative, is that the liberals make stuff up, whereas the conservatives merely tell the truth and to a lib that's mean.

From the article:

Coulter has, after all, jokingly wished assassination on Secretary of Transportation Norman Mineta...

That's strange. Just about everything else in the article has a direct quote yet this one doesn't. Hmmmmm.

I've noticed that the left often bristles at having their patriotism questioned, all the while claiming that the right wants to kill the poor, children, the elderly, and generally destroy the world.

The difference as I see it is that the Left has been playing the hate-monger game for several decades now. Republicans for the most part responded with dignity (or cowardice) in the face of such full-on hate-mongering. After 30-40 years of it, finally someone like Coulter comes along who is brave enough and can effectively dish it back as much as we have been forced to take it for so long.

Rush was able to give back about half what we had to take - but frankly, he couldn't give it back as much as Coulter does, because he's a guy and in addition to the grave sin of also being white and conservative therefore equates to him personifying evil by virtue of his very existence. Coulter is only 2 out of 3, so they can't demonize her just based on the fact that she's not a "minority".

"She's got good points, but she's just another polarizer."

I find this contradictory. If she raises enough good points that people are convinced, she's more than just a polarizer.

If by that you mean it would be better if we pursued a strategy of appeasement, look at where that got conservatives for 40 years.

Back and forths over "who's meaner" are obviously a waste of time. Neither "side" of the political spectrum has a monopoly on "meanness" nor does either "side" lack for examples of "meanness"; trying to get any more specific than that would involve defining "mean" and how to measure aggregate "meanness" and... ZZZzzzz.

As for Coulter, her statements are obviously inflammatory, hyperbolic, and yes often downright mean. That's part of why I find her so funny. I would agree that she is probably not a very effect proselytizer for conservatism, but that doesn't make her any less funny.

Horowitz said:

No one wields the verbal knife more ruthlessly than so-called liberal pundits like Joe Conason, to cite but one example....If people Joe Conason admired were the objects of acid Coulterisms, so much the better."

I agree with Horowitz.

Liberals feel they can label
#1-Coulter and
#2-Limbaugh
as "mean" (i.e., "willing to brazenly criticize folks on the Left.")

There are many, many, many more folks on the Left who are "mean" (i.e., willing to brazenly criticize folks on the Right.)

The Right would have to gain many, many more meanies to come anywhere near the number that the Left has.

This sentence deserves immortality.

When one takes a good look at what the Liberals stand for! those useless Liberals have a horrible way of showing their Patriotism, It's hard to challenge their patriotism, when they don't have any to begin with. I prefer just calling them for what they are... ANTI-AMERICAN SOCIALIST

I notice that the names Michael Moore, Al Franken, Babba Streisand, Ed Asner, Alec Baldwin, Tubby Kennedy, Bill Press, Bob Mulholland, etc. have been conveniently left out.

We wish the right was as mean as the left - particularly in the US Senate. We'd have to go some to beat the chains behind the pickup truck ad run by the NAACP against Dubya in 2000.

What about the obviously inflammatory, hyperbolic, from the left, Ann maybe cute but brash and a lot of people buy her books.

We on the right are starting to fight back, maybe not with the NY litteri rolled eyeballs and understatement and unsold books.
