Need Help Starting a Political Action Committee (oust Rockefeller & Byrd)
Jeff B.
Posted on 10/14/2003 12:07:01 PM PDT by Xthe17th
I am planning on starting a Political Action Committee, tentatively called "WV Senators PAC", which will be for the express purpose of supporting grass roots activism and candidates to oppose senators Rockefeller and Byrd.
It is my opinion that this is just a matter of disseminating the true and correct factual records of these two twits to the citizens of the great Mountain State. The ultra liberal abominable records of these two goofballs have been hidden from our public long enough!
I have downloaded the applicable forms and instructions from the Secretary of State website and have several people already expressing interest in geting involved with this in my county.
TOPICS: Activism/Chapters; Free Republic; Government; Politics/Elections; US: West Virginia
KEYWORDS: byrd; mountainstate; pac; rockefeller; senate; westvirginia

Senile old Robert Cornpone Byrd is up for re-elect in '06. Rockef***er's head goes on the block in '08. IMHO, the only way these two can be defeated is via the calculated and methodical development of a strongly networked 55-county state-wide grassroots team. I would appreciate any legal advice, tips, tricks, or other relevant experience with this that any FReepers may have.
As soon as this is official, I'll apprise y'all of how you can contribute. Any ideas would be appreciated, but keep in mind that this is just for ousting Byrd and JDRIV and replacing them with Republicans. Thanks in advance everyone. Montani Semper Liberi. God save West Virginia!

That's a lousy name for a PAC, man.
Truth, Justice, and the American Way PAC-- something like that.
-or- West Virginians for Limited Government, West Virginians for Growth, West Virginians for Freedom, West Virginians for Liberty, West Virginians for a Republican US Senate Majority, etc.

Byrd is an old Klansman way past his "sell by" date.

I have the right name for you. Just FReepmail me.

Not to defend Byrd, you'll never find his name on a piece of legislation, but he is the one who got a permanent allocation for the IFLOWS network in the mid-atlantic states. For those not familiar with the IFLOWS network, those are the automatic rain gauges that tell the National Weather Service when us folks are going to get washed down the creek. There's about 50 of those guages in WV.
I'd like to see Rockefeller go. I thought the gun issue would get him. Wolfe didn't make a strong enough case. Too many folks remember his volunteer days. Bryd I just as soon let die in harness.

Did you see JDRIV on FNS this week? Tony Snow ripped him a new one. JDRIV looked completely not credible.

Don't forget about Nick Rahall. He is Sheets Byrd's shadow on the House side.

Here's what set me off. From
OpenSecrets.org,
John D Rockefeller IV:
PACs: $1,044,601 (34%) Individuals: $1,634,367 (54%)
Candidate: $0 This is just sick! And if you go to Byrd's list, there's a ton of contributions from out-of-state defense contractors and other major companies. They disguise their corporate contributions by naming them as a PAC. It's enough to make me wanna

A couple other names that crossed my mind: "Our Senators Suck", "Save Our Senate WVPAC", or "Real WV Senators".

The problem is that I think the RNC is going to do the same to the Byrd/Rockefeller opponents as they did for our guy Rocky back here. Not give them a chance. That means unless you gave a gazillionaire running, you all are on your own.
Because this will likely be more of a nickle/dime type of operation, I'd be starting early. I'd advertise this across the country and at conservative, Republican, national and WVA pro-2a sites like thehighroad, and at pro-life areas to get $10, 20, maybe 50 here and there.
Good luck.

Kudos to you and Jay Wolfe for puting your time and
money into the cause instead of giving lip service only.
Although I wish you every success in the world--where
oh where in West by God Virignia is there a viable
GOP candidate with the personal fortune and visibility
from government service to take on RCB and Jay? Underwood
is history and Capito may not survive re-election in 2004
if the job situation in WV does not improve. Only death
will rid us of the klansman--and heaven forbid that Darrel
McGraw gets a yearning for higher office when Byrd passes.
