Imus: 'Pill-Popping Loser' Rush Is Going to Prison
NewsMax.com ^ | 10/14/03 | Carl Limbacher and NewsMax.com Staff

Radio host Don Imus is lashing out at rival Rush Limbaugh "even though," the New York Post pointed out today, "Imus himself was off the air several times during the 1970s and '80s because of cocaine and alcohol addiction."

"Rush is a fat, pill-popping loser and an undisciplined slob who was turning his maid into a drug pusher, and she's the one who's gonna go to prison, and - as soon as he gets caught - he starts whining," Imus said Monday on WFAN in New York.

"He's going to rehab because he can't get any more pills, and he's gonna go to prison," Imus said.

"Suck it up, fatso, and stop taking 100 pills a day or whatever ... and employ some discipline in your life," Imus said.

Sounds like Imus is going after Howard Stern's job.

Imus is still on the air?

I heard part of his program on the way to work one day, and was not very impressed. Never tuned in to his garbage again.

Where's the miscarriage of justice?

That miscarriage would be if she was jailed in spite of turning states evidence, which I understand she is.

Rush should go to jail, period. If it is good enough for everyone else it's good enough for him. He is a self absorbed hypocrite.

On a separate note you must like Monty Python, "spiny Norman" I believe was the name of the Hedge hog that followed Doug and Demsdale around.

""Rush is a fat, pill-popping loser and an undisciplined slob"

Imus claims this is what Rush will hear in rehab? I seriously doubt it.

I like Imus too. Not always, but when he gets unsufferable, I just turn the dial. When he's good, he conducts great interviews, good enough that it's worth listening through some pretty bad programming to get to the golden nuggets.

Turning state's evidence not should exonerate someone from the unlawful act of invading the privacy of others. And she and her husband went to the authorities with the information long before any deals were struck. They have no reason to give her a deal.

Drug dealers belong in jail.

IMUS (eye'muss) A boring, worthless creature who contributes nothing in respect to discorse.

I don't see a word about hypocrisy out of the mouth of Imus in his diatribe. I see an attack on someone going through a tough time. This exclamation had nothing to do with the WOD.

I agree. IMUS simply spewed insults at Limbaugh. But to me the issue isn't the lack of compassion or even the outright hatred displayed towards Rush by IMUS and his ilk. The issue is Rush's hypocrisy (if indeed he did illegally purchase drugs).

Many people have had addiction problems, and many people take various drugs which our government has outlawed or severely restricted. My own attitude is that it is none of my business (and should be none of the government's business). In specific cases my attitude will generally extend to sympathy or compassion for an individual's plight.

But that sympathy or compassion quickly dissipates if that person has hypocritically attacked others who've suffered similar problems. If someone supports the Drug War and then is found to be an illegal drug user, that person deserves the same fate he advocated for other illegal drug user, including rotting in prison. That is especially true if the person continues to advocate that fate for others but not himself.

It's called being hoisted on your own petard.

How did anyone understand what he had to say? I have to turn him off after a few minutes, he slurs and mumbles his words. Did'nt he have some type of problem like Rush?

Imus is a jealous loser whose ratings are barely a fraction of Rush's. Send Imus an email at imus@msnbc.com and tell the cowardly weasel what you think of him. I cant reprint mine here because this is a family site, but I let scumbag Imus have it with both barrels.

NewsMax has changed the article. This is what the link takes you to now:

Imus Kicks Rush, Says He's Going to Prison

Radio host Don Imus is lashing out at rival Rush Limbaugh "even though," the New York Post's John Mainelli pointed out today, "Imus himself was off the air several times during the 1970s and '80s because of cocaine and alcohol addiction."

"Rush is a fat, pill-popping loser and an undisciplined slob who was turning his maid into a drug pusher, and she's the one who's gonna go to prison, and - as soon as he gets caught - he starts whining," Imus said Monday on WFAN in New York.

Imus' criticism may have more to do with ratings envy. Rush's radio program is the most-listened to in America. Imus' program is a rtings laggard.

"He's going to rehab because he can't get any more pills, and he's gonna go to prison," Imus said.

"Suck it up, fatso, and stop taking 100 pills a day or whatever ... and employ some discipline in your life," Imus said.

Imus then recommended Rush check himself into Hazelton, which has a rehab clinic near Rush's home in Palm Beach, Florida. Imus said he went to Hazelton for rehab and described them as "hard core."

Tell the hypocritic Imus that spewing venomous accusations against Rush is more likely to poison his own audience, than Rush's.

And why is it that reformed addicts come out of their anonymous programs with less emotional range? A friend of mine's AA longtime sponsor died of a relapse and her response was so muted, no tears or sorrow, kind of intellectual. Very peculiar.

Imus is a dry drunk. When he speaks, you would swear he is close to pass-out drunk, but reportedly, he stopped his coke and alcohol bingeing years ago. Brain damage, I guess.

I stopped watching him due to his riduclous appearance and moronic comments. He has a fraudulent charity supporting his brother's ranch where some local kids are paraded through ever few weeks to justify the fundraising. All in all, he is a complete dork.

Imus, like Keith Richards, has done so much cocaine that he looks like a walking cadaver. He should be talking...from the exercise yard an hour a day at the state penn.

Don Imus is a burnt-out old fool with a dwindling audience. His attack on Rush is predictable from a guy who has a radio persona of a 'tough guy' who 'tells it like it is', blah blah blah.

Look, Rush Limbaugh was bound to be vilified and kicked unmercifully by the liberals and everyone who hated him to begin with and I'm sure he was well aware of that, which is why I was both pissed off and disappointed when it turned out that the pain-pill addiction stories were true. Yes, I know that back pain is horrible and the pills are an easy crutch but Rush has so much to lose and this prescription pill scandal, as well as he handled it, is hurting him. I see 'hypocrite' shouted at him from the rooftops and every drug-legalization advocate with an ax to grind is piling on, big-time. It's sad. Rush brought this on himself of course by not getting his addiction under control when it was still a secret. Now, the publicity might help him stay clean but the damage it's done to his reputation is severe and will probably diminish his influence. Too bad, but at least there are other conservative talkers ready to assume the mantle if Rush declines or simply packs it in at some point. I hope neither happen but, whatever Rush may believe, this has hurt him - a lot. Expecting compassion from anyone but his supporters is futile; the opportunity to kick Rush and scream 'HYPOCRITE' at him is just too tempting, as this thread demonstrates. That said: I wish El Rushbo well and hope that he can surmount this crisis both personally and professionally. I believe he will.

Imus hates anyone more popular than him. Obviously the list is quite long.
