Radio host Don Imus is lashing out at rival Rush Limbaugh "even though," the New York Post pointed out today, "Imus himself was off the air several times during the 1970s and '80s because of cocaine and alcohol addiction."
"Rush is a fat, pill-popping loser and an undisciplined slob who was turning his maid into a drug pusher, and she's the one who's gonna go to prison, and - as soon as he gets caught - he starts whining," Imus said Monday on WFAN in New York.
"He's going to rehab because he can't get any more pills, and he's gonna go to prison," Imus said.
"Suck it up, fatso, and stop taking 100 pills a day or whatever ... and employ some discipline in your life," Imus said.

Yeah, Imus hates everybody, 'cept
for a few pets(like McCain).
The other day, he casually tossed
out the line that whenever he's
listening to Cheney, Rummy or Rice
he just KNOWS they're lying to him
(about WMD). His own buddies who
often argue with him just laughed.
Then he'll tongue-lash some Dem.
He's senseless & useless!

Imus says outrageous things for the shock value, but his status as one of the world's best known cocaine addicts does bring to mind the word "hypocrite".
He deserves his PWing wife oozing the obvious affection she feels for him whenever she's on the show. /sarcasm

If it is true that Imus has overcome addiction, he sure missed a doozy of an opportunity for some 12th Step work.

"This is out of that context." Thanks for the info. I know how 'no holds barred' discussion can (and must) be amoung recovering addicts/alcoholics.

"We need to disassociate ourselves with those who say one thing, and do another." "I already have. I don't listen to Rush and I have no use for William Bennett." If you hold everyone on our side to an impossible standard of perfection, you'll end up alone.

Imus should spit out that Nicorette chewing gum. He can't, he's highly addicted to the calming effects of nicotine..his drug of choice.
I'll bet if he didn't get his steady nicotine "fix" he would be going ballistic.
Go ahead, Imus. Do it "cold turkey". You da man! LOL!

Never heard Rush talk about Imus' problems. Always portrayed Imus in a positive light despite the lack of light. Rush played Imus' comments on Clinton extensively. Also used Imus' signature quack quack sound effect in his Environmental Updates. Rush has always been classy guy to other broadcasters. Too bad many are classless hacks in return (hint: O'Reilly).
I thought Howard Stern put it aptly back in 1982-83 when he handed Imus his head in ratings, "No one listens to Imus because he's old, he's stupid, he's a back-stabber, he's not funny...IMUS SUCKS!" If I remember correctly, I think Stern used to say that frequently for a few months in 83 (when Stern was on WNBC 3-6 PM). I may be wrong, but I seem to remember Stern trying to get through to Imus' show to gloat and tell him he sucked. Stern ran Imus and Soupy Sales out of WNBC before he himself was fired and moved to 92FM and then syndication and the movies. Biggest joke in talk radio back in the 1980's was Imus' supposed triumphant return to WFAN (old WABC AM). I still remember sports guys complaining about this "jerk taking up space in the mornings instead of sports talk." Real triumphant IMUS, real triumphant.
I think more people know about Imus from this post than watch him or listen to him daily (quack quack)!

I remember FCC investigated certain NYC DJ's for payola and drug-for-song play deals. Imus suddenly left WNBC at the height of his popularity in NYC for
Cleveland.

Libs will never let go of the "fat" insult even though he lost much of it years ago. A lot of people end up fat, it is very rare that any have the discipline to get it off and keep it off as Rush appears to have done.
All that while spiraling out of control on Oxycontin.
