Not because he was a son, father, brother, and husband.

Not because he sold auto parts and supported his family.

Not because he spent his last years as a disabled man.

BUT JUST BECAUSE OF WHO HE WAS -- ROBERT WENDLAND, HUMAN BEING.

AS I HAVE PONDERED THE MEANING OF THE GREAT STRUGGLE WE EXPERIENCED TOGETHER OVER THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS, I HAVE COME TO SEE THAT ROBERT OFFERED THE WORLD A GREAT GIFT—HIS UTTER VULNERABILITY -- WHICH CAST A MAGNIFYING MIRROR UPON US ALL.

IN MANY WAYS, OUR REACTIONS TO ROBERT TOLD US MUCH ABOUT OURSELVES:

WHO WE ARE AS INDIVIDUALS

WHO WE ARE AS FAMILY

WHO WE ARE AS MEDICAL AND LEGAL PROFESSIONALS

WHO WE ARE AS CLERGY

WHO WE ARE AS CHRISTIANS

WHO WE ARE AS A SOCIETY

IN SOME CASES, THAT IMAGE REVEALED THE IMPERFECTION OF THE HUMAN CONDITION.

BUT THIS IS NOT A TIME FOR RECRIMINATION. IT IS A TIME FOR HEALING. IT IS NOT A TIME FOR ANGER, BUT FOR LOVE. AND SO OUR PRAYERS ARE TO FORGIVE THEM, LORD, THEY KNOW NOT WHAT THEY DO. MORE URGENTLY, FORGIVE US, LORD, FOR OUR OWN SHORTCOMINGS ARE GREAT.

THE REFLECTION THAT ROBERT WENDLAND CAST ALSO GAVE US A GLIMPSE OF THE TREMENDOUS BEAUTY OF THE ONE IN WHOSE IMAGE WE ARE ALL MADE:

A MOTHER’S INEXHAUSTIBLE FOUNTAIN OF LOVE

THE DEVOTION OF LOYAL SIBLINGS

AN ATTORNEY’S UNBREAKABLE COMMITMENT THAT HONORED HER PROFESSION AS IT REVEALED THE GOODNESS OF HER OWN HEART

THE WILLINGNESS OF AN UNKNOWN NURSE TO RISK HIM or HERSELF TO TRY AND SAVE A LIFE

THE RALLYING OF PEOPLE FROM AROUND THE WORLD WHO NEVER KNEW ROBERT WENDLAND PERSONALLY, BUT WHO CARED ABOUT HIM AS ONE OF THEIR OWN.

BUT NOW, IT IS FINISHED. ROBERT’S WORK AMONG US IS COMPLETE.

AS WE MOURN HIS ABSENCE, LET US ALSO REJOICE THAT ROBERT DRINKS THE WATER OF LIFE FROM LIVING SPRINGS. HE IS WHERE THERE IS NO NIGHT. For Robert now, as for us someday, DEATH AND SORROW, CRYING AND PAIN ARE GONE. ALL THINGS ARE NEW AND HE ABIDES IN THE HOUSE OF THE LORD FOREVER.

He could just as easily ignored the whole situation

I know a lot about the Busalacchi case. In fact I have studied it more than any of the others. If Christine was a friend of Norry's daughter, then Norry knew a lot too.

Christine was all over the local papers and way in the media when she was being killed by her father.

Fascinating case....the Missouri state dept of public health was battling the father in court to save Christine.

During the battle, they went in and video taped Christine, moving, waving to them, etc.

Then they held a press conference and handed the tape to every single tv channel in St. Louis. And every single one ran the tape on the evening news, dubbed over with comments from caretakers of Christine who talked about how responsive Christine was, etc.

But they killed her anyway in the end, because her father had the right to say she would not have wanted to live "like that" on her behalf.

Christine's story was very sad. Her mother died when she was only 4 and Christine was a very angry teenager.

How could ANYONE be allowed to die of thirst and starvation? For ANY reason? And it's ordered by a court in the United States of America?

Terri won't understand her suffering. She'll just die not knowing why the people around her don't help. She won't know they could give her a drink of water, but won't.

I realize that, but my point is that there are already individual human beings dissected for body parts without first being declared dead ... and you know as well as I that it must occur that occasionally a failed abortion that has dissection scheduled is happening! Besides, the prenatal human beings are not given a death protocol or death certificate, to assure that these babies are dead before being dissected. The law doesn't even recognize them as ALIVE prior to abortion, so you can bet there are 'people' out there taking full advantage of that reality. I've often wondered if it has yet occurred that an aborted baby arrives on ice at a research facility and is found to still have a beating heart when pulled from the container for dissection!

Murder is murder, be it an unborn baby or a defenseless 90 year old, and every last one of the innocent lives taken will have to be paid for.

As a believer in a real Hell, I know there will be a lot of surprised murderers buring in the abyss. It's unchristian of me, but I can't manage to feel any mercy for those blood thirsty animals.

One has to wonder how "fatherly" her father was before she died/was murdered.

I wonder how her father lives with himself.

do you not find it ironic that Christ said a cup of water given in His name....I keep thinking about that as the culture of death strides into the adoration of dehydration for killing.

It just seems too close to be a coincidence.

It's horrific to think how this could be sanctioned. If some doctor pulls the tube...not only should he be named....he should have to sit in her room and watch her die, only a monster could do this.

They say he only visited her about twice a year at the institution where she was being cared for.

The complete irony is that Nancy Cruzan was about two rooms down the hall from Christine in the same facility.

So gruesome...I found newspaper letters-to-the-editor from Christine's father written in support of what the Cruzans were doing, before he chose to do it to his own daughter.

Then Pete ( Christine's father) approached and used the same attorney that the Cruzans had used to kill their daughter. To kill Christine.

All dehydration victims, for the most part. And I bet you, like me a few months ago, had never heard of most of these victims.

It is very difficult to not think with some degree of glee about the "afterlife" of people who are killing Terri, and who have killed the others.

I find it especially abhorrent that this "husband" will keep her own parents from being with her as she dies.

It's just the progress of the death marchers. They won the unborn, and are moving to the disabled. Dehumanize, dehumanize.
