Syndicated columnist Jill Stewart blasted the Los Angeles Times for its coverage of Arnold Schwarzenegger, and said the paper continues to cover-up for Gray Davis. Appearing on CNNs Reliable Sources, Stewart, a former Los Angeles Times reporter, told host Howard Kurtz that the paper has still not covered stories of Gray Davis violent temper tantrums.
Stewart first broke the story of Davis Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde personality in 1997 writing for Los Angeles New Times. She claimed at least one female said Davis had physically assaulted her.
But Stewart made new claims on CNN Sunday.
"Last year, on election night, when [Davis] thought he was losing, he threw a violent fit in his hotel room in Century City, Stewart said, adding, "It was well known among the media.
Stewart said during the fit, Davis reportedly attacked and destroyed the television set in the hotel suite.
Stewart said she was informed about the incident by a Times reporter who called her.
"I was an unemployed freelance journalist at the time, and asked me to take a look at it because they weren't about to. It was widely broadcast in the Bay area, she said.
Doyle McManus, an editor from Los Angeles Times, said the paper had looked into the story but found nothing.
McManus defended the papers coverage of Arnold Schwarzenegger and its reports that sought to influence the recall election during the closing days of the campaign.
Stewart noted that the paper was quick to assign two teams of reporters to investigate Schwarzenegger but did not do so with Davis.
Stewart said: "We all know in California that Gray Davis has had many allegations of improper behavior, violence against his staff, violent fits. I have written about it. It's been broadcast in the San Francisco Bay area a number of times. It's been on radio talk shows.

But you can't softpedal someone and get him elected if you're writing bad things about him in the paper, can you?

Before we get too judgmental we have to recognize that in Gray's fevered mind this was what he was up against:

Or maybe Gray was simply doing what we have all wanted to do from time to time:

I hope all the CA people who cancelled their subscriptions to the LA Times stick to their guns...
It's hard to get mad at a paper that goes out of business!

It'd've served Davis right to have gotten electrocuted in the process.

If this were to happen to any Republican this would have been front page news the next day, complete with editorials asking whether they had the right temperment for government and wondering what kind of charges they should be arraigned on, and then calling for his resignation.

I wrote an email to the LA Times concerning it's lack of coverage of Davis's offensive and violent behavior, and it's reversal of policy by publishing an article about Arnold without names of the accusers. Following is the answer I received. I think you will all find it interesting!:
Thanks for your note. The Times had reporters more than once look into these
allegations about Davis. However, articles are published only when editors
and reporters find the facts verifiable and the story credible. In this
case, they didn't.
I'm sorry you saw the Schwarzenegger stories as a "smear." I do think the
incoming governor's reaction to the allegations goes some way toward showing
that the story was credible.

Water isn't a conductor of electricity.
Only the minerals that are contained in the water are conductors, pure (distilled) water will not conduct any electricity.
