Congressman Toomey and Senator Specter are both registered Republicans, but the candidates differ drastically on the issues. Check back each week to find out another issue which they disagree. This week:
Congressman Toomey has never voted for a tax increase.
Senator Specter has voted for 5 major taxes increases, two of them were the largest in American history at the time.

$10 today. Will give more when I find work. Anybody hiring software engineers?

Arlen is way outside the mainstream of the Republican Party. I can't wait until we have Pat in his place.

I'm very excited about the Toomey campaign. I think this is the best opportunity to date for Freepers to make a difference in a high-profile race. The Republican party will give zero support to Toomey. It's up to us folks!!!
GO PAT GO!!!

Thanks for the ping. Please keep me informed of the latest developments regarding political races (not just PA). I wasn't sure who to back, but I've decided that it's "Toomey Time." He will be a great senator, one in the mold of Rick Santorum. He will kick a$$ against someone like Joe Hoeffel. However, we must be wary if he faces Bob Casey or another socially conservative democrat.

The White House and Santorum are behind Spector.
To: flrepublican1
Yes, the Bush and Santorum are vocally backing Spectre. This is because of his seniority, not because they like his politics. I am sure Senator Santorum certainly doesn't. A race against Spectre risks a great deal, but something has to be done about him. If nothing else, Toomey's race against him should show him that the people elected a Republican and expect a Republican.

"The White House and Santorum are behind Spector."
I know that. The White House was also officially behind Bob Smith last year. The point is that we have to help Toomey to show the WH that he's credible. Also, why would the WH want to piss off Spector when they need his vote on certain issues? THAT would be bad politics.
To: MainstreamConservative
Thats a good point.
To: GeneralHavoc
Spectre also voted against Bork.

Where are all the Specter apologists that lie about his voting record so they can CLAIM he supports the President "most" of the time?
They must have missed this thread...or they are out of good news to defend ol' Scottish Law Arlen with.
It's hilarious to watch the RINOs scream:
1) That "Bush is backing Specter!" over and over--when they fought tooth-and-nail to DISCREDIT Bush's endorsement of Bob Smith last year.
2) That the "difference" was that "Bob Smith was an embarrassment to his state" when Arlen unknowingly wanders around the Senate floor with a trail of toilet paper on his shoe, envokes non-existant laws to justify his votes, and managed to do even WORSE in the GOP Presidential primary than Bob Smith.
3) That we need to keep Arlen because "only" he can win-- when Scottish-law man got a whooping 49% of the vote the last time the Dems attempted to run a REAL campaign against him in 1992 (with a weak Dem candidate, no less!)
4) That Arlen's doing fine and needs another term so the GOP can "prepare" Melissa Hart to succed him-- even though Arlen looks like hell, had triple-bypass surgery, golf-ball sized brain tumors removed, will be over 80 if has to finsh another term, and the 'RAT governor of PA seems all-too-giggy about the prospects of naming a replacement if Arlen even manages to win again.

Bump for Toomey. The last thing we need is Arlen Specter as chairman of the Judiciary Committee.

I gave $10, but am currently unemployed and very much look forward to the day that I find work and can give a substantial contribution. Anybody have openings for embedded software engineers?
