Ø Campaign Update

Prosecutor or Politician?

Mike Questions his Opponent’s Lack of Courtroom Experience and Asks why his Opponent Attempts to Distort His Record

On the campaign trail, Mike continues to tout his legal experience and discuss real issues affecting Michigan voters. In turn, Mike’s opponent, Gary Peters, is trying to distract Michigan citizens by talking about writing legislation instead of enforcing the laws.

In this race, Mike the Prosecutor is running against Gary the Politician. For 13 years, Mike has been protecting Michigan families, and currently leads an office of 14 attorneys and 30 employees. His opponent has never prosecuted a single criminal case. His opponent can’t match Mike’s record, so Gary Peters distorts Mike’s record to distract the People of Michigan.

"I am the only candidate in this race with real legal experience. I have been addressing the issues that the People of Michigan are concerned about since last November," stated Mike. "I have a legal record as Director of the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit, 13 years as a prosecutor in Wayne and Oakland County, and a 90% conviction rate. My opponent has never practiced law. Six months ago Mr. Peters was running for Governor. Six weeks ago Mr. Peters was running for Lt. Governor. Now he wants to be Attorney General without ever practicing law."

In a recent debate on the Politics with Bill Ballenger show on September 20, Gary Peters said, "I don’t want to get into any kind of legal arguments". Well Mr. Peters, you picked the wrong office to run for if you don’t want to have a legal discussion. We are sorry, Mr. Peters, that you are term-limited out of the State Senate, but Michigan citizens will not allow your political ambition to turn the chief law enforcer into a legislator to fit your needs.

The voters of Michigan will not be fooled by Gary Peters. Mike is the only candidate in this race with real legal experience. Mike is the only candidate in this race who has led an office of lawyers. Mike has a record, his opponent does not!

Democrats and Gary Peters Lie About Mike and Distort His Record

Mike Cox stole the front page of the Michigan Democratic Party Website. In an effort to distract Michigan voters, Mike’s opponent and the Democratic Party distorted Mike’s views on issues to mask Gary Peters’ lack of legal experience.

"We are picking up real momentum and the Democrats’ desperate attacks show they are concerned about us," notes Neil Forbes, Mike Cox for Attorney General Campaign Manager. "When you have nothing else to talk about like Gary Peters, you distort your opponent’s record. All Gary Peters talks about is legislating, not enforcing the laws."

Last week, Mike focused on his plan to improve Michigan child support collection and stand up for 644,000 children in Michigan that do not receive regular child support.

Gary Peters is also a gun grabbing insurance guy. He has no experience whatsoever, and wants to use this as a stepping stone for governor.

I wouldn't vote for him for anything. Mike's got my vote.
