I've also seen reference to another poll, supposedly conducted by ABC News that was released on primary day, giving Dole a 52-42 lead over Bowles - but I've been unable to find any information on that one.
(I routinely post every poll I can find on the various Governor, Senate and House races around the country. If you'd like to be pinged when I post, please FreepMail me.)

49% isn't very impressive but it's probably enough to win. Irksome will have to change some minds which were already made up.

While normally stuck in the liberal bastion of NJ, I took the wife and the mini freeper to the Outer Banks (Corolla) this year. I was amazed at how many "I miss Reagan" bumper stickers there were on cars. I didn't even know they existed. God Bless NC.

To this day, I cannot imagine who was the genius Dem who decided to lure or even let Erskine Bowles into this race. Jeez, his family will be forever known as the ones who lost the Gov's mansion to the GOP for the first time in the 20th Century in 1972 when Erskine's pop, "Skipper", blew it against Jim Holshouser. Look for junior to follow in dad's footsteps again. Definitely a near or at 60-40% blowout for Liddy. They're gonna regret not having lured Jim Hunt out of retirement who could've made it closer.
