Schelske will appear on H&C on May 17th with his wife Sara Evans. Brooks and Dunn will hold a fundraiser for his campaign on May 3rd.
From articles of his campaign:
[Evans has said she] sees a natural crossover between country tunes and Republican politics. Like any country star worth her rhinestones, she sings about daddies and mommas, truck stops and broken hearts. But there's an underlying theme of liberty in her music.Evans is from Missouri originally-- maybe she'll take time out to do a fundraiser for Talent."Country music definitely fits that whole mind-set," Evans says. "Stay out of our lives. Don't tell us what we can and can't do. Don't tax us out of our lives."
To date, [Schelske's] met with the current President Bush four times; he's spent a half-hour discussing political strategy with Rep. Tom Davis, R-Va., the head of the Republican Congressional Campaign Committee; and he was one of a handful of political hopefuls invited to a recent Christmas party hosted by Eugene timber millionaire Aaron Jones, a major campaign donor.
Sara for her part remains a little cautious of the Oregon media and the liberal nature of the state. "I remember watching the press at a George W. fundraiser in October at the Rose Garden (Sara sang the national anthem). There were a lot of people there and a couple of times W. would say something and they (the press) would roll their eyes."(no liberal bias out there, no sir!)
