On Friday, Nov. 21, Greene announced she will resign from her post as representative for Georgia's 14th congressional district in 2026.
When asked by journalist Rachel Scott if Trump had "any heads up" about Greene's decision to resign, Trump replied, "Nah, it doesn't matter, you know but I think it's great. I think she should be happy."
In Greene's statement, the congresswoman said that her resignation will be effective as of January 5, 2026. She also criticized the political gridlock and partisanship that she says have impeded her ability to achieve her legislative goals.
Greene went on to criticize her fellow Republicans for their participation in the longest government shutdown in American history, and touted her conservative voting record on issues like gun rights and abortion, border security, and "COVID tyrannical insanity."
The congresswoman added that she did not want to be asked to defend Trump, who announced exactly one week ago that he would withdraw his endorsement of Greene.
"I have too much self respect and dignity, love my family way too much, and do not want my sweet district to endure a hurtful and hateful primary against me by the President we all fought for, only to fight and win my election while Republicans will likely lose the midterms," Greene said.
Her resignation announcement comes amid months of public tension between Greene and Trump, fueled by the congresswoman's increasingly critical rhetoric. On Nov. 10, Greene criticized his current focus on foreign policy amid the president’s White House meeting with Ahmad al-Sharaa, the president of Syria’s interim government.

1. No one with just 5 years in Congress gets what would be a “full” pension. Congressional pensions are prorated by the numbers of years served - Greenes 5 years gets her a much reduced pension.
2. Greenes pension cannot begin till she is at least age 61, which means she’ll have to wait 10 years before it can start.
Unfortunately, she is not wrong. She also said that when they los, the Democrats will impeach Trump and she is not wrong about that either.
She will have a long career on CNN and the other liberal news outlets.
So long as she talks trash about Trump.
Greene complaining about Congressional gridlock is totally hypocritical as she has been a frequent engineer of that gridlock.
Why Jan. 5th? Is that when she becomes eligible for her lifetime taxpayer funded pension?
Interesting. The bad part for her is there is no way on God’s green earth that she will win either a Senate seat or Governorship in Georgia. I pray she doesn’t jump on the race to be a spoiler to some good candidates that are trying to knock out the rotten Ossof and Warnock. Otherwise, she doesn’t have a prayer.
Yes.
She supports illegal immigration to keep her construction company afloat, that’s the bottom line. Any words about America First are just bluster and lies. Good riddance Marge.
I think if she does, she will be seen as one with inside Trump info by Dems, kind of like his drunk niece, and as a person with no credibility by everyone else.
Watched a report a while ago that the opinion was that this boils down to two things. Complete and absolute loyalty VS morality.
Trump requires unwavering loyalty. She made her position towards morality.
If anyone thinks that the constant steps taken to restrict the peoples rights to require this government back to moral principles is proper. Then the country needs to suffer absolutely.
It is indicative of a sick and immoral society.
There is no loyalty required toward an immoral government.
You are correct....absolutely correct
Well, nobody is going to admit it, but this whole Congress thing is about nothing more than getting rich quick. Not on the salary, because of the connections, public image, and inside information they have access to. It’s obvious.
MTG has always been all about MTG Inc. first and foremost. Just like AOC, she’s done everything possible to elevate her public image and stature as a leader and spokesperson. As Ann Coulter proved, you don’t sell books and make millions without being controversial and taking contrarian stands. Margie has maxxed-out on that and where can she go in Congress now that she pressed her luck and lost the DJT endorsement? Fight like hell for another two years, every two years and end up on the short end of the stick even if she wins now that Trump isn’t on her side.
Far more lucrative to get out now, leverage her public image into punditry and consulting. Her “Why Trump Lost Me” book will probably be worth a $5 million advance and she’s narcissistic enough to think she can become Governor of GA, which she won’t be, but the run will further elevate her image.
All she needs to complete the picture is a 20-something jock on her arm, and the paparazzi in her driveway. Cougar heaven.
Stop stating your ideas as as fact
this is not Democrat underground here we’re not liberals
Another instance of feelz overrunning fact....one of the many unintended consequences of the 19th Amendment. Is Boebert in the bullpen warming up yet?
The Democrats shut down Congress and she blames the Republicans
You have been a Never Trump A-hole for years so your words ring hollow.
I disagree with Trump on the same issues, but it takes deliberative teamwork and not some drama kid Lone Ranger to get resolution.

She preferred serving under the Auto pen
Marjorie was also very tight with Matt Gaetz then they had a falling out over McCarthy. Same with Boebert. I see a pattern.
She's a drama queen at the same level as Jasmine Crockett. Both are “losing a seat”. But Crockett is leaving kicking and screaming about being redistricted out of her seat. MTG throws her’s away because her feelings were hurt. That's how much she cares about the people in her district.
