Trump isn’t holding rallies these days — and doesn’t seem to miss them much

In his first eight months in the White House in 2017, Donald Trump held nine rallies — the kind of campaign-style events that had come to define his political brand, drawing thousands of supporters from across the country willing to wait for hours for the chance to hear directly from their president.

This time, Trump has traded rallies in places like Nashville and Louisville for a flurry of official events on the White House grounds. When Trump does venture away from Washington or his golf clubs in Florida and New Jersey, where he also entertains prominent visitors on weekends, it has mostly been to drop in at major sporting events, such as… to a UFC match in Miami.

The White House is attempting to gain support for the president’s controversial tariff plan, and his overall approval rating has dropped slightly amid economic uncertainty — though it remains higher than it was this time eight years ago. But after a frenetic pace of campaign events leading up to his election, traveling to see his base and mobilize his supporters is simply no longer a top priority.

“There’s really no reason to do it,” a senior White House official said of the rallies, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss strategy.

The official said Trump keeps tabs on his base in a number of ways — by staying plugged in on conservative social media and discussing political topics with aides — and he lets them hear from him by taking questions in front of news cameras several days a week. While Trump may resume the large-scale political events closer to next year’s midterm elections, he is focused in the meantime on enacting his aggressive agenda, the official said.

“I really miss those rallies,” said Shah Mehdi, a commercial driver from Wisconsin…

He was “older” last year, yet he campaigned more than anyone else.
That guy’s got stamina even at his age.

He doesn’t need to...it would just distract from the in-progress IMPLOSION of the democrat party

It’s not about winning the next election, it’s also about how a lack of physical connection with the base, hearing directly from the base, is shaping his agenda.

But to be fair in his first term, he was making appointments and personnel decisions that frustrated people too. In the base.

Trump is well aware of the day to day concerns of all Americans. He also understands that as we approach the mid-term elections the dems will bring ANTIFA out to riot all over the country, and do everything in their power to crash the stock market starting next summer. Punishing ‘the people’ and having the media blame Trump for it is their only way to win the next election. THe Shutdown is the perfect example of what I just said. The dems don’t care if people go bankrupt, can’t put food on the table, lose their homes, lose their jobs, that is their goal to beat Trump at the ballot box. Think back to 2008-2009 market crash- that was the dress rehearsal for what is coming in June/July 2026

There’s not enough being done to beat the Dems at their own game...otherwise the cycles keep repeating. Obviously easier said than done, and I am only mere observer. President Trump has done incredibly well and accomplished so much despite the circumstances...Hopefully many things he initiated will last beyond 2028 instead of reversed the next election cycle.

But...the conservative movement in general seems to keep falling into unforced, self-sabotaging traps time and time again...Democrats have more wiggle room to mess up, because of the way culture and media is set up. Republicans don’t...

Kinda bummed that an outsider and visionary like Elon has been left out of the D.C. loop these days. Oh well better for his safety, peace of mind, and businesses that he stay out.

It’s amazing how Trump has everyone on all sides screaming against immigration and H1B visas

A few years ago ‘oh it’s all good. We’ll be fine. We’re not hateful. We’re giving and wonderful!!’

Now it’s all screw Trump. We’re not going along with this invasion and usurpation of our jobs

Tricksy

Sadly, I don’t think MAGA will survive without Trump. I had hopes it would, but more and more I think it’s back to Business As Usual, just as when Reagan left office.

In time. I expect him to be campaigning for House and Senate candidates.

Exactly. Why would he? He won the election, he was nearly assasinate twice by democrat party foot soldiers, and he has a job to do.

It’s the post.

Rallies would spark a story about his ego and recklessness and a hitler comparison.
No rallies gets this about fear and aloofness and disconnection.

Save this comments for the 2026 election season. They’ll pivot without a hint of humility for their doublespeak.

"If the MSM wants Trump to have rallies, there’s a reason. And not a good one."

And it took two idiots to write this article.

That’s a low number these days.

Sometimes it is a half dozen.

"Sometimes it is a half dozen."

These media companies could save themselves some money if they just hired competent reporters, but they have to have a gang sit around a table like a bunch of comedy writers, to come up with a story.

Study those writers’ names.

They need translators.
