The mayoral race focused largely on Albuquerque’s crime rate, homelessness, housing and economic development.
Keller, a Democrat who has served in the state Legislature and as state auditor, defended his record as mayor and his knowledge of the issues, emphasizing the need for follow-through. White said he offered a change of pace to voters to “clean up the mess” the incumbent’s administration has created.
Keller was elected to his first mayoral term in 2017.
He will face off against former Bernalillo County Sheriff Darren White in a Dec. 9 runoff election, which occurs when no candidate receives 50% of the votes cast.
In his speech, White said, “If you believe Mayor Keller has done a good job on the big issues like crime and homelessness, then vote for him. But if you think that we can do better — and we can do better — I ask you to join my campaign and bring the change that is needed to Albuquerque, and we will make it happen.”
White, a longtime face of local law enforcement who went on to open a successful medical marijuana company, has said repeatedly that he would only serve one term if elected.

Keller’s a do-nothing moron. He’s been in office for 8 years and is blaming predecessors on problems he’s done nothing to cure then asks for just four more years to fix things. He’s a Temu Gavin Newsome who presents no solutions but blames others for his own inadequacies.
They shouldn’t have made that left turn at Albuquerque.

Yeah, I lived there when it was cool! Six decades ago. 😂👍. Going past the old state police office by the fairgrounds at 110 mph. Good times......
Tim Keller (D) is a two-term incumbent, and a complete disaster.
A pretty-boy type who smiles and makes excuses while Rome burns.
Darren White would be a vast improvement and a breath of sanity.
Now, yeah. Just low effective weed 60years ago.
Timmy two-face has done plenty. He has built several bum palaces where the junkies can go sleep it off and grab a meal before they go back to aggressive panhandling, shoplifting, and B&E’s.
I have always loved Santa Fe, New Mexico as does my wife. She is Mexican and I a Spanish speaking gringo. We are perfectly comfortable with the culture. I have known Santa Fe for over 45 years. We were considering moving there. Over the years we have seen the slow decline of the city, with poverty, government corruption, and total mismanagement of city and state government.
We are staying in Texas!
