Once a loyal foot soldier for Trump, Marjorie Taylor Greene is increasingly bucking her party
NBC News | Yahoo ^ | Oct 8, 2025 | Melanie Zanona

Posted on 10/09/2025 3:06:01 PM PDT by CondoleezzaProtege

Over the past six months, Greene has made waves in Washington for publicly breaking with Trump and the GOP on a number of high-profile issues and lobbing some pointed attacks at her fellow Republicans in the process. She was critical of the Trump administration’s strikes on Iran, referred to the situation in Gaza as a “genocide,” signed her name to an effort to force a House vote to require the Justice Department to release its files related to the Jeffrey Epstein case and, most recently, sided with Democrats in calling for an extension of Affordable Care Act subsidies amid the government shutdown fight.

Greene also has a strained relationship with House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., whom she feels zero loyalty to and tried unsuccessfully to remove from his post last year over his support for Ukraine aid.

In calling for an extension of the Affordable Care Act subsidies, Greene cited her own children as an example of how people are going to be hurt if Republicans let them lapse. Greene said she was “disgusted” by the prospect even though she doesn’t like the underlying law, and she criticized GOP leadership for not having a plan to address it.

“What I am upset over is my party has no solution,” she said. “It’s not something that we talk about frequently, but it is a reality for Americans, and it’s something that I don’t think we can ignore. I want, I really want to fix it.”

Marjorie Taylor Greene is great. Wish we had 434 more people like her in the house of representatives.

Marjorie Taylor Greene (MTG) is not supporting Obamacare (the Affordable Care Act) itself, which she has stated she is not a fan of, but she is advocating for the extension of expiring Obamacare subsidies that would prevent a significant increase in health insurance premiums for millions of Americans, including her own adult children.

She expressed frustration that Republican leadership has not provided a plan to address the impending premium hikes, which she claims will double without the tax credits.

That basically would leave these people without healthcare, and some of those people are supporters of the conservative movement too I might add.

Her stance emerged during the October 2025 government shutdown, when Democrats were demanding the extension of these subsidies as a condition for reopening the government.

Greene criticized her own party, calling the situation “shameful, disgusting, and traitorous,” and emphasized the real-world impact on working families in her district and across the country.

While she opposes the principle of Obamacare and health insurance as a “scam,” she insists action must be taken to prevent the financial burden of skyrocketing premiums.

Her comments align with polling showing broad public support, including among MAGA-aligned Republicans, for extending the subsidies.

Thus, her position is driven by constituent impact and political pressure rather than support for the ACA itself.

When the Reublicans get their act together, and realize that they are no longer the country club party, but are instead the party of the people, then perhaps they will actualy come up with legislation that the people support, and if the Democrats refuse to support it, because it eliminates illegals being provided free healthcare, then they do so at their own demise.

This is not about saving the Democrats wiseprince, it is about making the Republicans the party that stays in control.

Is that not what you want?

I sure do. Obamacare is not supported by me either, but I am not for leaving Americans denied access to healthcare, for that will only drive support back to Democrats.

Is that what you want?

Quit listening to those who spew forth BS, and start examining the issues more deeply. When you do that you begin to see the games being played in politics. The Democrats has a great record of capturing the people, until they expsed themselves as being nothing more than having winning talking points, yet they never deliver on their talking points.

Intead, they blame Republicans for them not delivering their promises, when the reality is that they just promise the world to stay in power, with no iontention of delivering. People are finally seeing tha reality.

Do you not want to take back this nation?

The only way that can be accomplished is for Republicans to not only talk about being the party for the people, they have to continue delivering ehat they talk about as well.

That is the secret to Trump's success. He delivers what he campaigned on. In fact, I suspect that Trump stands with MTG. Because it is Cngress that needs to deliver, and then Trump can sign it into law.

Remember when the RINOs kept saying that if they get control, they would replace Obamacare? When it came down to it, they exposed themselves as nothing more than grifters who had no plan to replace Obamacare, even with the years they campaignes on that promise.

No, I stll stand by my comment. MTG is a solid conservative. Sorry that you disagree, but then again you are looking at it from the wrong angle. When you replace something, it must be better, it cannot be replaced whle leaving citizens in a lurch, if you want to stay in power and make America Great Again, MTG is being real. She iss not abansoning the conservative movement.

Driving a wedge is how they get conservatives fighting against each other. Begin to start seeing the games being played, for the sole purpose of sowing chaos within the conservative movement which wealens thie movement.

So dp not let them capture you in that, for that is how they win.

Does that help clear up the issue about her being a rock solid conservative?

Okay, but that still doen't pass the smell test either, because of her age. I still contend that the sole purpose was to make her look worse than she is. She is a true concervative. You can read my response tthat I just posted that will most likely be driectly aboce this response.

She is a solid conservative, regardless of what you presume she misght have been, because it what she is now.

She's over the top, but sometimes she's hitting the mark well...

unfortunately, that encourages her to go even farther, and louder, and that's when she starts missing the mark completely. She's both an asset and a liability, and all she seems to want most is the attention, be it positive or negative.

See, I disagree that she’s a “solid conservative”. I think she’s a populist. Not the same thing at all. The ACA subsidies are the giveaway. She’d have been a pro-union, pro-”working class” Democrat in the 70’s.

Just asking, where is the money for the subsidies coming from? Interest on our debt is now over 1 trillion dollars. Rock solid conservative my a$$. Subsidies are my tax dollars paying for your medical bills. When did that become “conservative?”

Where is her bill to extend them? She is also aware that the CR still funded them until November during which time they could have negotiated for and voted on her bill to reform the ACA. Oh wait, she has presented no alternative bill to vote on. Nor has she he suggested any possible compromise. So by definition she is nothing more than an opportunistic bombing thrower. She is undercutting her party and any potential compromise. From what I have read she is on the outs with Trump. She is as conservative and loyal as Cheney and using the same playbook. I suspect she will eventually go the same route as Cheney. Congress is full of Bozos she is just a GOP Bozo.

She just came out and said deporting all illegals has to slow down because it’s hurting the construction industry.

The great lighting over at her new favorite channel CNN has flipped her like a switch.

Provide the link, but if she said that, then I dosagree with her. But I serious foubt that she actually said that. You might have read that she said it, I am not doubting you.

I also see no artucle that mentions that, nor does AI returnant relevant information that mentions thay .

If it just recently happened, it may not have hit the news sites yet. Wjere did you hear it at?

However, you should also be aware that they are trying to drive a wedge in MAGA, to begin infighting within the movement.

So, color me skeptical, because she is certain to understand that we got along just fine in the constructio business without illegals doing the work.

Okay, the very least question touched upon the subject. She has a construction company, and her company most likely hired illegals, either knowingly or unknowingly. She abbhors polictics, just as much as I do. She also is a woman who tend to possess more compassion than do men, which means she understands how optics play a role in the decisions people make when they go to vote

But I saw nothing about her comments that convinced me that she wasn't conservative. What I saw is a woman who tells it as she sees it.

That being that leaders, including Reagan pretty much either ignored the illegal immigration policies, or in the case of Reagan who trusted the promnise of the Democrats to build a wall to stop illegal immigration id he provided the illegals that were here, blanket amnesty eith a patway to cotizenship, which only encouraf=ges more illegal aliens to take their chace of being just as seccessful.

She stated she would love an off ramp for both deportation & Obamacare (ACA).

She is well aware that the Republicans have no plan & never had one, though they would continuously campaign that if they ever got control they would replace it. They did obtain that control & they shot it down because they had no plan to replace it. They let John McCain takes the hit, because they also hated Trump even more than they hated Reagan. I think it was because they were not used to being in charge, and they actually preferred to be the minority party.

She also understnads that Democrats need illegals to put them back into power.

As the old saying goes, talk is cheap. However, used correctly it can be very powerful. I think most of what she is saying, is to secure that Repuvlicans retain, and hopefuly gain control so that they can secure a supermajority.

This is how she feels about these topics, but at the same time she wants the Trump presidency to become one that meets less resistenance as well, in order to get his agenda to gp pn a tear at warp speed.

Of course The Atlantic will swoon over her, because it gives them ammunition to create a schism within the MAGA movement to weaken it. It's working not only on you, but many others who c,aim they are conservative.

I have no doubt that you are, but policis is chock full of chcainery. Do you abbhor it when we use it to gain advantage, or would you prefer to let them steal the narrative and return to power?

That's all I have to say. Hopefully you understand what I am saying wothout saying it.

Anyone who doesn't want mass deportations of the multi millions that came over the border over the last four years isn't conservative. She isn't saying it because she's compassionate. She's saying it because she's a business woman. The words came right out of her lipsticked mouth. You asked for proof and I gave it to you.

She's loving the attention that she's getting from the left media. She's not helping Trump, she's sticking her finger in his eye.

She's turning and I see. She's trying to be all things to everybody and that means she's for nothing. But I will give her credit for being media savvy. She had Wolfe Blitzer slobbering all over her at CNN and she loved every second of it.

Well, we will see I guess. I still contend that she is conservative.

Without question it is a rocky road for businesses right now, but it has to be. That's why noone ever had the guts to do what Trump is doing, because the debt problem is a shred problem by both political parties, and Congress never wanted to be the cause of the nationchanging course.

FOr new we will agree to disagree.

I acknowledged that what you said bore some truth, where we disagree, if what she meant by what she said,

You see it as a stick in the eye of Trump, while I see it as an optic that the Republicans must be aware of for the up coing midterm elections in oder to solidify gains in both chambers of Congress that will give Trump even more of a manfdate to carry out his plan.

I'm usually a pessimist of the nth degree, but on this one I am confident that she is a conservative. I'm not even optomistic of that. I too feel for the good people that came to really join in to the Ameican dream, but that changes nothing. Yju all must go, and she knows that al must go., because we cannot afford to take in these people under out current condittions we are facing as a nation.

President Trump has the final word, and she supports im fully. She understands, that it has been political politicians of both parties who hung around t enrich themselves, and not the nation & her citizens.

BYW, I acjnowledged that what you said was accurate, but that I still disagree with your conclusion.
