I'm not using TikTok. But it's interesting to know.
I still don’t get the draw and purpose of Tik-Tok. What does it do that various other social media outlets don’t do?
apparently 70% of X/Twitter listeners (10’s of millions) to Musk Trump were 25-35.
youtube copied them with their video shorts
series of short videos that load automatically
one after the other
it has an addictive quality
Trump needs to stop saying stupid things or he will lose.
From what I can see it is for people with a super short attention span - video shorts of people doing crazy funny stuff.. seems mostly apolitical to me.
My only experience of it is people sending me links to some short video of something they thought was funny. They typically last about 10 seconds and then automatically load the next video - I think people get addicted and keep cycling through these random videos until they get bored:
It is important to make inroads in the youth vote area and suffocate Democrat support in that manner (just as with the black and Hispanic votes).
(Trump needs to stop saying stupid things or he will lose.)
Like what specifically?
I notice on X this morning that Trump now has 89.4 million followers, he just posted 4 hours ago. At the start of his conversation with Musk he had 88.1 million. So 1.3 million new followers in four days.
Definitely. Short form videos, with a vertical layout, seem to tap into the short attention span that young Internet users have.
I’ve played around with YouTube shorts and it can become addicting as you view them. They are presented seemingly without commonalities but the background algorithm pushes based on user preferences and what is trending.
Sometimes they can be very useful though. There’s a YouTuber who puts out shorts ( @WorkshopCompanion ) where his contentare quite informative and gets the point across in about 60 seconds, useful if you want to learn something but don’t want to sit through a long form video.
I’d say the signal to noise ratio is <1.0 in most cases.
Tiktok? When did he create an account there? I never use, and I don’t plan to, but I find it interesting that he’s increasing his social footprint as of late.
It draws in millions of the young and ignorant like a magnet. Many of them vote.
I hear ya
Very addictive.
It should be banned for kids who are under 18. My opinion. That said.
It's a great tool. You can train the algorithm to watch MAGA videos. If you're constantly responding to anything associated with MAGA, eventually that's all what you will get.
On the other hand, if you're a big fan of Bob Vila, then you're get nothing but videos on Home Improvement.
Interesting
I guess it’s convenient to post short clips.
Me neither. But it was forwarded to be via email.
Update: I just clicked on the link above - his account there, it shows it reached 10.2M.
