The late great Catholic theologian Michael Novak wrote that the roots of the doctrine that "all men are created equal lie in Judaism, carried around the world by Christians."
Novak was flat-out wrong about this. The spread of the Gospel among the Gentiles was distinctly Christian in nature, not a characteristic of Judaism. There is no “Chosen People” in Christianity, and the message of salvation for the entire human race is a Christian one, not a Jewish one. In fact, Judaism is rooted in its identity of exclusivity — which is why Jews generally don’t proselytize.
Prager might find it sobering to know that what he’s observing isn’t new. I’d suggest it’s just the latest manifestation of that epic point in history when the Jews stood before Pontius Pilate and chose Barabbas.
”We have no king but Caesar!”
The old testament and the new testament are ‘the Bible’... and both form our unique Christian culture. When we evangelize we’re bringing heathens and pagans to believe in the Hebrew God and in his Son, Jesus Christ. Intertwined is an understatement.
