The left labeled him an amiable dunce but he was quite versed in the details of government policy. That’s why they threw in amiable. He threw zingers at them in front of friendly crowds where they couldn’t do anything because he was speaking the truth.

As I se it, Trump was 30% Ronald Reagan and 70% George Patton. Too little Reagan, and too much Patton.
Patton had a lot going for him. But there were solid reasons for making Eisenhower, and not Patton, the supreme commander in Europe.
Imagine Reagan & Trump, as a team to destroy the leftists, socialists, communists, marxists, anarchists, fascists, demonKKKrats etc etc etc.
No man is perfect. But times are so different between the time either led this nation. Reagan's charm worked in his time, but he would have been destroyed had he run when Trump ran.

Other than the fact that a cockroach would be better as President than pedo Joe, it would be just as bad if he was President as it was if Trump was still in office. The US is corrupt. All the organs of government. Virtually all the press. Virtually all the schools where America’s children are raised. The majority of churches and synagogues. Publicly traded corporations. Corrupt and rotten to the core. To the point of the totality of this engaging with Persecution of people who aren’t fully in line with the corruption.

I was among the thousands that lined the DC mall and watched Reagan’s body being taken to the Capitol to lie in state. There was also a horse with no rider IIRC.
The propaganda media could not understand the outpouring of love for Reagan. They probably did not know anyone who had voted for him but they finally admitted that Reagan was loved by the majority of Americans. A 49 state landslide victory had not been enough to convince them.

I remember Reagan making bureaucracy appointments of those who would support his philosophies...

Remember his 6 terms as union leader fighting the communist takeover of Hollywood and being forced to start packing a gun, his 2 terms of California Governor during it’s wildest years, and his packing a gun as president, not to mention his years as a regional champion lifeguard saving lives on a river, and his years as a cavalry officer before WWII.

Reagan was never as Conservative as portrayed.
Oh sure, both at heart had been Liberals, Conservative on some things, but still Liberal on others. Trump was better than Reagan in many ways.
