As voters in NM-2 know, Herrell won handily over Xochitl Torres Small, and Trump won the district also with the support of signs like "Vote Trump/Pence, your job depends on it." In the eight months since taking office the Biden administration is doing what it can to make that slogan come true with banning leasing on federal lands and making existing permit holders jump through more hoops to get approvals. Of course our oil and gas-hating governor is helping by having the environmental agencies regulating the industry develop more rules and regulations making it difficult for small operators with marginal wells to continue production.

The lines are being redrawn to change CD-2 from a very marginally Republican district to one significantly more friendly to anti-American Democrat scumbags like this guy (or anyone else they run). And they can do this — Democrats have full control of the process — without any real risk that Republicans will pick off either of the other 2 districts.
