A Harvard scientist claims her colleagues were afraid of voicing support for the Wuhan lab leak theory, a possible origin for the coronavirus pandemic, because they were afraid of being “associated with Trump.”
The comments tend to indicate that experts were guided more by politics than their allegiance to ‘the Science.’
Alina Chan, a postdoctoral associate at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard University who specializes in genetic engineering, is one of 18 researchers who published a letter in the journal Science last month calling for a more in-depth investigation into the virus’s origin.
“Theories of accidental release from a lab and zoonotic spillover both remain viable,” the letter reads. “Knowing how COVID-19 emerged is critical for informing global strategies to mitigate the risk of future outbreaks.”
That is true whether the discussion is today, last month when the letter was published, or last year when the pandemic was peaking.
But what Chan told NBC News illuminates the fact that scientists were pressured away from following their naturally curious minds. Why? Because they were afraid.

Ummm, almost; it is deadly serious political warfare.
So these people are pretend scientists, they certainly are not REAL scientists who follow fact and truth above all. They should be terminated immediately because who would ever be dumb enough to believe them ever again.
So there was a conspiracy to block investigation of the Wuhan lab leak theory by calling it a conspiracy theory.
You must be retired and have nothing else to do but attack people who post on FR. I’ve been on here since 1998 and appreciate when people link me to articles worth reading. If they make a few pennies off the link I’m not offended. I don’t have all day to peruse every website on the Net to find newsworthy articles. I’m glad other do. I hope your constant haranguing doesn’t stop people from providing that service.
