You’re talking about European indentured servants — somerhing like half of Europeans agreed to a period of indentured servatude to pay for transportation & settlement here before roughly 1800.
That practice was eventually outlawed, as a form of slavery, but it was a far cry from conditions of African slaves.

You are obviously omitting the living conditions of both Irish and Chinese slaves - who cost far less than African slaves at the markets.
Historical records show that the average price of an African slave in the 1850’s was $300. Irish and a Chinese were often $50. Homes in Brooklyn were $2,000 then - who would be foolish enough to mistreat their investment for an African slave with impunity?
Bounty hunters for escaped slaves had very specific instructions to not injure those who they captured in any way.
This treatment was not given to the Irish and Chinese in the mines or building railroads. They were often killed, and starved for long periods of time while doing very dangerous work.
Slavery is horrible. So tired of blacks claiming to be the only victims, and thinking we owe them anything. What about my ancestors that died fighting on the Union side to free them?

OK. We will support paying reparations to those who can prove they are descendants of hose who were slaves and the reparations will be paid by those whose descendants actually owned slaves.. like Kamala’s ancestors.
