An English professor at Iowa State University warned students that they might get dismissed from the class if they argue against abortion or criticize the Black Lives Matter movement, according to her syllabus.
The syllabus, which was obtained by Young Americas Foundation, was written by professor Chloe Clark, a 2016 Iowa State University graduate, for students who will be attending her English 250 class. The student who sent the syllabus to the organization wanted to remain anonymous, fearing retribution.
Clark notified students that othering is prohibited in her class, as well as any topic that takes at its base that one side doesnt deserve the same basic human rights. Examples for the latter, according to the professor, include pro-life arguments and arguments against gay marriage and the Black Lives Matter movement.
Professor needs to go to diversity training class.
Sign up for Brainwashing 101 at Iowa State.
Because God forbid you pursue critical thinking or have a personal opinion.
Any degree in the humanities is suspect. They are no longer true academic disciplines.
This has to be an outright lie. No one would be allowed to put that in their syllabus. If so, we have gone over the edge.

She’s only been a teacher, what 3 years?
She should be fired for presumption of University policy.
Does she hold any authority in the University Administration? What idiot gave her a job?
“Othering” from an English prof. Nonsense. pure and simple

Universities and colleges that teach hard sciences and engineering need to greatly decouple themselves from Left-wing indoctrination courses (and Left-wing instructors). There’s no reason to subject people to the kinds of thought-policing that goes on there. If the instructor wants to foster debate, then fine, but shutting down other opinions by accusing them of “’othering” is nothing short of an attempt at mind-control.
As a state institution, that is a violation of the 1st Amendment. Sue her butt out of her position.
Stating that these social issues matter in the instructor’s curriculum means the class itself is irrelevant to teaching English.
shut the school down
The educational system in America needs SERIOUS counter revolutionaries in there
So, if I argue that the unborn are human beings deserving not to be killed by dousing them in chemicals or torn limb from limb and then having their body parts sold off for medical research, I’m the one othering people. I bet she would then immediately call me a Nazi without seeing the overwhelming irony of her name calling.
Well of course she would. Now is a good time to close down these indoctrination centers formally known as colleges. Trade schools are coming back.........hard, necessary physical labor is better than sending a kid that’s half-assed normal to college and have them come home totally brainwashed and not worth a damn to society!
Each university seems to installing a room 101.
These Marxist Commie Scum are Sick and Getting Sicker!!
English instructors were like that in the most old fashioned of universities in the Midwest during the ‘80s. They were hooked closely to women’s studies departments and other departments. There were even ties to nursing. Most people just didn’t want to hear about it or deal with it. Now look at the society of youth as a result of that.
