Former NBC Sports hockey analyst Jeremy Roenick is suing NBC for wrongful firing after the network terminated his employment earlier this year. NBC said Roenick made indecent comments on the air, but they did not take action against a gay colleague who made similar remarks.
What did he say? The former hockey star was fired in February over comments he made on the Barstool Sports Spittin Chiclets podcast, where he joked about wanting to have a threesome with his wife and NBC Sports colleague Kathryn Tappen.
Im swimming with my wife and Kathryn, and theyve got their bikinis on, and they look (expletive) smokin, he said on the podcast at the time. Ass and boobs everywhere. Its great.
I play it off like were going to bed together every night, the three of us, Roenick said. If it really came to fruition, that would really be good, but its never going to happen.
He apologized for the lewd remarks but was suspended and, ultimately, fired.

Being straight is a forgivable offense. But being a Trump supporter?
THESE things need to happen. The only way this is going to change if lawsuits happen for wrongfully cancelled people.
Who can blame him? Both are very very not guilty.
I can’t imagine saying that in the workplace.
This thread is worthless...
I always liked JR as a player. He was a decent announcer for the Flyers until went national and had to stop being a homer. I never detected he was a conservative or a leftist. I don’t recall politics being part of his announcing. Too bad the NHL is ruined, they lost a fan after they torn down Kate Smith’s statue in Philadelphia.
Workplace? He was a hockey player!
Totally off the rails...
Under Clinton the EEOC would have SHUT DOWN a company over an action like this,
Great guy from Philly area. Don’t worry Jeremy...the freeeeeeee market will work it out at some point in our great great great great great grandchildren’s lifetime....as long as Trump doesn’t interfere....The constitution is strong!
He said it on a podcast not the workplace. Also the idea wasn’t his. He was telling the story of a woman who had the wrong impression about him because he was interacting with Tappen and his wife at a hotel pool in europe.
It was poor taste to repeat the story but firing him was over the top given that NBC employs Johnny Weir.
If I was his boss...I’d fire him.
Totally off the rails...
Do you work in Hollywood/Pro Sports? His comment was pretty tame in that arena.
Don’t matter to me....I would fire him.
I will not ever watch another Flyers game or buy another Flyers item yntil that Kate Smith statue is up again!! That was a disgrace! They defamed her based on an anonymous complaint! No one had a say in the matter. These big corporate teams donnot give a crap about fans because they know sadly they’ll never stop watching. Theybfigured out the drunk jersey wearing white male behavior..
Women have similarly sexualized male athletes, the difference is it isn’t generally recorded. Anyone who thinks women — yes, in the industry — don’t fawn over male athletes is kidding themselves and is woefully naive.
There is nothing they can do in the future to get me back. They took direct aim and attacked a childhood memory of mine. Why should I emotionally invest in a team in the future when they could pull the rug from under me. Burn me once, but never twice. I have better things to do in winter.
Did he say anything against blm? That’s grounds these days.
100% in agreement. Kate Smith’s image was treated criminally.
