They don't understand that Trump has drawn back the curtain on their shenanigans.
Good luck getting elected or re-elected when your 51% to 49% margin of victory over the Democrat goes to 40% Pubbie to 60% Democrat because the conservative base had to wash its collective hair on election day...

The party has been that way since 1998 or so, but has gotten particularly aimless since 2006. RINOs are most responsible for this as they don't want conservatives to have a voice in the party (other than the usual lip service). There is all kinds of opportunity to make gains in areas that the GOP has given up on, but they don't even try.
