The University of Florida announced Thursday that its putting an end to the Gator Bait chant at sporting events, citing the racist history behind the phrase.
The change was announced by the University of Florida President Kent Fuchs who said the phrase invokes historic racist imagery, while acknowledging that theres no evidence linking the chant to racism. The chant involves fans shouting gator bait and mimicking the chomping jaws of an alligator with their arms, accompanied by music.
While I know of no evidence of racism associated with our Gator Bait cheer at [University of Florida] sporting events, there is horrific historic racist imagery associated with the phrase, Fuchs said.

But then someone would go hunting for some evidence that someone, some time in the last 300 years, somewhere in the world, said "Shark chum" within 50 ft of a black person, and...
Something I have long wondered. What does the V on the back of their helmets stand for?
College sports gets woke, goes broke.
in this ‘racism training’ will they be taught that the only deadly racists right now are the black folks looting, burning, assaulting and murdering white folks? Will they learn that roving gangs of white folks attacking black folks are non existent?
No? Then they will be brainwashed- not taught about racism
Wil lthey learn the following?
Dr. Voddie Baucham, Dean of Theology at African Christian University and former pastor from California,
Im also an American who, as an expat in a foreign country, Ive been to dozens of countries in the world. And there are two things I know: One, black people in America are the freest and most prosperous black people in the world. Period. Bar none, he asserted.
... the reputation that black people have, that somehow we are weak and impotent, and that we cant do or be anything unless white people do it for us. Which, by the way, is kind of racist.
I enlarged it. It says "Panama Canal."
Then I saw this:
University of Florida Admits Beloved ‘Gator Bait’ Cheer Isn’t Racist, Cancels It Because of Racism Anyway
No doubt the fans will adhere to the new rules. NOT!
My son’s university mandated classes in “sexual harassment awareness” years ago. He said it was pointless. The true gentlemen didn’t need the class, and the clods who treat women as sex objects reacted with “stupid b**ches made us take some dumb class about broads”.
Im so grateful that I finished college. Things were bad enough when I was a college student.
Seeing how most racism is black on white, are the black students going to take an anti-racism class, too?
Had to look it up: “V” for valley, ie, San Joaquin Valley.

Gators dont worry about the color of your skin.
This must be like the racist origins of LSUs neck chant.
STBLMDB!
Racism training:
1) Call all white people in the audience evil and point at the ones in the audience.
2) Repeat 1)
And that chant was started by Lawrence Wright, who is black, and he does not agree with the ban.
wow.....that’s pretty bad.....
Because we know that Alligators only eat black people. /s
How about civics classes and how government works in this country and why weve fought for these liberties?
Because these stupid idiots in the colleges dont seem to get it
Well. Whoever Lawrence is, if he wasn’t a conservative before, I hope this pushes him over to “the dark side.”
