During her weekly press conference last Thursday, she said, “Lives are at stake. This is not a time for name-calling or playing politics.”

Shortly after it had ended she was criticizing President Trump over his administration’s response to the coronavirus crisis as anemic, opaque, too late and often chaotic.

All the while, Pelosi was holding back a House bill to provide funding to fight it.

What pisses me off is they claim the Wuhan virus is more virulent than other strains but, of the 15 or so strains of Flu each year:

During the 2018–2019 season, 136 deaths in children with laboratory–confirmed influenza virus infection were reported in the United States8.

However, influenza-associated pediatric deaths are likely under-reported as not all children whose death was related to an influenza virus infection may have been tested for influenza9,10.

By combining data on hospitalization rates, influenza testing practices, and the frequency of death in and out of the hospital from death certificates, we estimate that there were approximately 480 deaths associated with influenza in children during 2018–2019.

Our estimates of hospitalizations and mortality associated with the 2018–2019 influenza season continue to demonstrate how serious influenza virus infection can be. We estimate, overall, there were 490,600 hospitalizations and 34,200 deaths during the 2018–2019 season. More than 46,000 hospitalizations occurred in children (aged <18 years); however, 57% of hospitalizations occurred in older adults aged ≥65 years.

Older adults also accounted for 75% of influenza-associated deaths, highlighting that older adults are particularly vulnerable to severe outcomes resulting from an influenza virus infection. An estimated 8,100 deaths occurred among working age adults (aged 18–64 years), an age group that often has low influenza vaccination uptake11.

Conclusion

CDC estimates that influenza was associated with more than 35.5 million illnesses, more than 16.5 million medical visits, 490,600 hospitalizations, and 34,200 deaths during the 2018–2019 influenza season. This burden was similar to estimated burden during the 2012–2013 influenza season1. "

"Typically strikes those over 65 in larger proportion and kills that same demographic in disproportionately higher numbers than other demo's due to the likely hood they have pre-existing underlying conditions which are complicated by any flu or cold..."

I think it was GOP Congressman from Texas, Dr. Michael Burgess, who BEGGED for the House to get on the c-virus thing at the very beginning. They blew him off and decided to talk about it two weeks later, and halfheartedly. When he told that to Maria Bartiromo on her show, she was shocked.

There’s always a reason the RATs do what they do and, as you say, “That way she can blame the Republicans. Dirty politics as usual.”

Yeah! & fight just as hard as they did against the Deep State coup, the false “Russia, Russia, Russia” narrative & repeal of O’Care (which they promised & passed 5+ times)

Wait. What?

{checks papers}

*cough*

Ahem, never mind.

The left wishes that the virus spreads and many more die. It is worth it to them just to remove the President. Any more I say will get me “comment removed” because what I think of the left and what needs to be done to them is not pretty.

Yep

I am used to seeing doctor or hospital every year, at least once and in bed a week or two at a time

So bad sometimes they give me an inhaler.

17 years ago they put some mask on me for a couple hours

Took flu shot this year and not sick once

There’s always tomorrow...

Yeah, flu shot this year myself.

Got the pneumonia vaccine when I was in the hospital that time.
