Democrats are increasingly worried by the spending chasm between the two sides — and its implications for 2020.
Donald Trump and the Republican National Committee have raised more than $300 million this year for his reelection — more than any other sitting president in history at this point in the campaign.
Trump has nearly twice as much cash on hand — $158 million, between his campaign account and the RNC — as Barack Obama and the Democratic National Committee had at this time in his successful re-election run.
Already this year, Trump’s campaign operation has spent close to $23 million on TV and digital advertising, more than 10 times the amount that the lone major Democratic super PAC spending against him, Priorities USA, has laid out so far in its online-only spending campaign. Story Continued Below
Democrats are growing increasingly alarmed by the spending chasm between the two sides — and its implications for the general election.
“The resources he has will be put to work anywhere and everywhere that he feels like he can scare up electoral votes, and Democrats will never catch up. It’s just too much money,” said Chris Lippincott, a Texas-based Democratic strategist who ran a super PAC opposing Sen. Ted Cruz last year. “That’s real trouble … I’m not here to curse the dark, but it’s dark.”
And the situation stands to get worse.

Democrats can go screw themselves. There’s going to be a tidal wave in favor of Trump.

It can’t hurt, though.
But more to the point, it sends a powerful message about the President’s political strength - that’s what has the Democrats worried.
He doesn’t need the money for several reasons: 1) he’s rich. 2) he is a master at getting free press. 3) he has honed his campaign rallies into the perfect campaign venues - while his opponents do poorly attended town halls, he knocks his rock star level performances out of the park every single time.
But the fact that he can raise so much cash so easily means his message is getting out, and that it’s well received.

People are donating to him because they like his policies. These policies make them successful, so they would like to see the policies continued. In short, Trump has the money because he’s helped ensure we have the money.

I think there are tens of millions of people out there like me who just can’t wait for November 2020 to finally come, so they can vote for President Trump.
But they are forced to wait. All they can do in the meantime is contribute money, so they do that.
This may be shaping up to be an epic landslide.
It’s the Trump’s rallies that are really priceless. He gets 20k people at a rally get the Trump message, who network with another 100k people.... plus (some) tv coverage.
The more the democrats try to take away my vote, the more I keep donating to Trump. Not the RNC, BUT TRUMP. At the rate they are going, this is just a drop in the bucket.
The democrats are Trumps money machine.

Actually, yes it does. The RNC filled in the holes in the GOTV effort because Trump did not have much money. Now Trump’s campaign is paying many workers to register voters this year and building an infrastructure to get voters to the polls. In 2016 Trump could only hope they would show up. In 2020, they will have an organization that will make sure they show up.
Landslide? No. This is a 50/50 country and is still a 50/50 country. It will be close once again.
