While running for president in 1960, John F. Kennedy campaigned against the moderate growth economy (2.5% annual GDP rise) in the last years of the Eisenhower administration. He appealed to Americans highest aspirations by saying in his typical Boston drawl: We can do bettah. JFK promised 4% and 5% rates of annual economic progress for the nation and he delivered. Those were the days.
What a contrast to the proposals and rhetoric from todays presidential candidates. Ive watched many hours of Democratic presidential debates and have yet to hear an impassioned plea for faster growth. Many of the candidates including Sens. Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris and Bernie Sanders seem far more designed to reduce inequality or hand out free things to voters rather than expanding the economy.
The policy ideas would divide the pie differently, rather than expand the size of the pie for everyone. So much for the JFK idea of a rising tide lifting all boats.
The new economic message of progressivism is grounded more in envy and giveaways than prosperity and opportunity. Sometimes liberals seem so obsessed with income inequality they seem contemptuous of growth because it makes the rich, richer. (emphasis mine)
The Democratic national platform failed to even mention of the term economic growth, and dont be surprised if that goal is absent from the 2020 party platform. ...

It is exactly because progressives are afraid of everybody getting richer and getting less dependent.
They arent missing it at all. They hate it. Economic growth means individual wealth which means independence from government. Mr. Moore hasnt been paying very close attention.
Dims bitch slapped by Adam Smith’s Invisible Hand.
It is exactly because progressives are afraid of everybody getting richer and getting less dependent.

Right, they fear that prosperity leads to personal independence which they see as detrimental to the expansion of big government.
They don’t want us controlling our own lives. They want to be the ones in control of everything.
JFK would be to the right of PT today, and the marxocrats would be trying to impeach him.
We need much larger budget deficits. - Stephen Moore (paraphrased)
because high taxes, more regulations, and excessive government spending are harmful to a economic progress
What do the Democrats have? NOTHING but Hate! Hate! Hate! Hate! HATE
And for a large swath of Americans they are spiritually bankrupt and worship at the alter of slutty celebutards, expensive consumer goods and partying themselves into a booze or drug induced coma. Progressiveism takes away those good times and promises austerity and government oppression. Most have not gotten that yet, but they will when they can;t afford the new iPhone 12 or getting that $120 mascara one of the sperm dumpster Kardashians wears. It will take a decade or two for them to get it.
That this is a dream result for idlers and slackers has not gone unnoticed. :)
JFK also said:
Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.
Yeah... That’s pretty much the polar opposite of the Dem. Party message today.
