At election time, President Trump can claim that he practically built the wall without help from his own party.
He should get most of the credit anyway. I think this will play well in his winning in 2020.
I am not sure if wanting more illegals in the country was the reason for their voting “yes”. I think they think it was 1) more important to go about it another way that uses a legislative solution or 2) in some cases (e.g., Romney) they hate Trump.
Having said that, I do support the use of other funds including the National emergency to continue wall building and hope this all plays out will in the Courts.
The question to congress was if or not there is an emergency on the border...because the “another way” had already been down that road. They said no emergency ...period!
Well. On the bright side Trump can veto this and move forward as there is not 2/3rds in the House or Senate that will vote against him.
So now it’s on to the courts. Let’s hope the administration’s lawyers kick butt and we get decent judges.
That’s my point. These POS’s have boxed themselves in in bringing up the Constitution. Let’s stuff it down their throats, especially in regards to spending bills and various pet projects. I don’t think Trump prevails in Court so why bother? BUILD. We will get the rest again next year.
He just proved he also hates our country and our citizens. He voted against the security of the United States of America.
