I think there is too much made of the “hate” that the Leftists have for Trump, sort of a disembodied sentiment that by chance coalesced around Trump.

No, their hatred is not aimed at Trump per se, and not because they don’t like him, because they manifestly liked him before he ran, but they hate that he is in the way of them maintaining their power and wealth. He is only a target that gives them a focus to smear. It is like Orwell’s daily two minute hate sessions If they defeat Trump, they get to maintain their power. Any like-minded leader would get the same treatment.
