State Rep. Evans to Resign to Lead Missouri Republican Party More
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) St. Louis-area Rep. Jean Evans is resigning from office to be the next executive director of the Missouri Republican Party.
Evans cried as she told her colleagues on the House floor that her last day as a state representative will be Tuesday. She received a standing ovation as she wiped tears from her eyes.
Voters first elected the Manchester native to the House in 2016. She also works as a real estate agent and an investor.
Republican Gov. Mike Parson in a statement praised Evans' ability to win election in what he described as a key swing district in St. Louis County.
Evans will replace Ray Bozarth as executive director of the state party.
