How is a Docket different from an Indictment?

The docket contains the Court’s list of filings, to include indictments, and other documents, sealed and (ultimately) then unsealed.

“Cases you see in district court with number like 19-cr-28 might be indictment, information or complaint. It also could be a prisoner case that are also filed in the main “cr”case type. But usually, I’d guess 90%, they are indictments. There are a lot since 2018.”....from Twitter blog

People who talk about ‘sealed indictments’ are being misleading. The type of document is unknown until it is unealed (made public). Until then, it’s just a docket number.
