The 1980 and 84 EC maps are things of beauty.
Of course those elections occurred before third-world migration (mostly legal) made it impossible for a Republican to win on the left coast (or in NM, NV or CO).
(Fun fact: Even useless Romney would have won the EC if the 2012 demographics were those of 80-84.)
