Welcome to Pollapalooza, our weekly polling roundup.
Poll of the week
A new Texas Senate poll came out this week showing Democratic Rep. Beto ORourke within 1 point of Republican Sen. Ted Cruz. It gave new life to a familiar question: Could Texas finally flip blue? Normally, this would be the point where we lecture everyone about the dangers of putting too much stock in one poll. But this poll wasnt even much of an outlier it came on the heels of a few others that also show ORourke within a few points of Cruz. Thats an awfully close race for a state that President Trump won by 9 points in 2016. Is it time to start betting on a Democrat in Texas?
We still say you should hold onto your chips.
OK, first the new survey: Emerson Colleges poll of registered voters, conducted online and through robo-calls, reported 38 percent support for Cruz and 37 percent for ORourke, well within the polls 4-point margin of error. About a fifth of respondents remained undecided.
Emerson was the sixth consecutive pollster in our database to find the Texas Senate race within single digits....

Yeah like Mitch McConnell was in trouble and than the race was called 10 mins after the polls closed
So once Georgia and Texas turn Blue where are we going to? Or do we just wait to be rounded up?
“I dont believe for a moment this election is going to be a problem for Ted.”
me neither ... just more BS from the lying leftist fake stream enemedia ... I still remember when they had texas and georgia as possible for Hillary:

(FNC had one even stupider than this regarding georgia and texas, but they’ve taken it down and i didn’t save a copy)
Yep.
Cruz was always the RoveRINO's "Tea Party mole" and part of Sundance/The Conservative Treehouse's "GOPE Splitter Strategy" for JEB to win the nomination. Ted Cruz's own campaign lied about having the numbers for the nomination... when they didn't.
I'm still curious as to why Cruz donated $500 million to whatshernameHewlettPackard in 2016; but that Cruz joined forces with McConnell in Mississippi '14 sealed Cruz's fate as a fake Tea Party conservative.
For anyone interested, Cruz didn't endorse Trump until five weeks before the election, many months after his "Vote Your Conscience!" speech at the RNC convention, of which Hillary retweeted mid-speech.
He’s fine.
Unfortunately, your analysis is spot on. I hope Trump can drag this loser over the finish line.
I do. Texas has grown fast and libs are moving into South Texas.
You know, overall, Lyn' Ted never apologized for his lies and actions, not once. Part of why he is so unlikable.
Opinions are like holes, everyone has one.
Some smell, some really smell
“Not defending Beto, but from a distance, the event and discussion make Beto more real. Lyn’ Ted is just unlikeable.”
You mean Honest Robert Francis O’Rourke, 4th generation Irish-American, who attended Columbia University, majored in English Lit & was on the rowing team? THAT authentic, honest, caring, REAL Hispanic?
And weren’t you heavy into the Arizona threads just a few days ago, pushing the wonderful RINO Martha McSally and arguing against Kelli Ward? Calling Kelli “Doc Contrails - a lie pushed by John McCain?
Just WHY IN THE HELL ARE YOU POSTING OF FREEREPUBLIC? Is there ANY conservative candidate you won’t stab in the back on FR? Or lie about, or call names?
Do you think a Georgia will pick an affirmative action candidate picked and promoted by the party over better qualified candidates? I haven’t paid much attention to who the Republicans put up, doesn’t seem to be much news about him or her at all. So may a loser?
With Trump’s help—he will win Bigly. The election is turning into a referendum on Trump as President and the job he’s doing. If Trump pulls Ted out of the fire—Cruz will owe him bigtime. Glen Beck better open his eyes and start supporting Trump in all ways. Romney better look at this election and realize the Never-Trump movement is as dead as McCain. This election will force the Democratic Party to reform back to its roots rather than slip into a Socialist left. For the good of Traditional Democrats—VOTE GOP! Only a Red Wave will end the Hate-Trumper.
In all the campaigns I’ve worked on I’ve never been a paid staffer. Not my specialty. If you were running or office you’d love to have 10 or 20 of me around to help out. I got a very heart-felt hand-written letter from the late Fred Thompson after the success I had raising money for his try.
From your fingertips to Gods ears... Go Cruz!
Campaign was too lazy to even print up yard signs until late in the game. Not a well run operation at all, although Trump may be able to pull in out for Ted.
I can only dream of voting for a senatorial patriot who has a good chance of winning. Five years, till I am able to escape from New England and then Texas is where Ill be. Cant wait.
I support plenty of conservative candidates, plenty of Republicans. Apparently not your bad choices. I’m not part of an echo chamber, Kool-Aid drinking crowd that you insist on be part of. And do your repeated lies make things real? Doc Contrail held the hearings, initially defended them. Guess that is too inconvenient for you. And you think that Cuban-Canadian, and recently new American Cruz has any less a pedigree for school? Lyn’ Ted went to Harvard while Beto went to Columbia. Big deal. And why Ted instead of Raphael? Maybe there is a shrink in the crowd that can explain the reasons behind these two running from their real names?
Why not the all the Republicans are committing sucide among all their factions.
Shhh... It’s good strategy for the Dems to think they have a chance in Texas. Let them waste resources there!
I am stunned. When Beto announced he was running I thought he would get no where because he didn’t seem to have name recognition outside of El Paso. I will say he is very highly thought of in El Paso. El Paso is a lefty city and he butters up the right people. He shows up at every dogfight making promises that he doesn’t keep but most don’t seem to notice. In El Paso they think he is fantastic, he even has some Rs fooled.
A few years ago a technical school in El Paso was suddenly closed by the feds. The school was playing shenanigans with financial aid money, and embezzling. Students were left in a lurch including a class of nurses that was at the end of their program- employees were not paid. Beto showed up at a meeting of students and employees like a knight in shining armor. He promised to fix everything, get everyone paid, help students finish. He was going to solve all the problems. I know people who worked there; Beto in the end did nothing that anyone knew of to actually help. The issues had to play out over months and people had to deal with the FBI to get transcripts and other records. The same people still think he is awesome because when they were upset he showed up with promises.
I have no idea if this poll is accurate or not, but if he really is anywhere near Cruz that is craziness.
