There is much more in that comment than a figure of speech. It's a very peculiar comment considering that Seth Rich was not her child although she may have been very close to him.She could have said "colleague".

“Here's what they don't know. What it was like to be over at the DNC during the hacking. What it's like to bury a child. I did, Seth Rich. They don't know what it's like to protect a staff from further harassment,” she said.

NICE, Donna, a not so subtle warning that THEY had better not suicide her since she knows what really happened to Seth Rich.

Oh, I don't doubt that Donna may have felt a twinge of maternal grief over Seth's murder, but I really wouldn't read more than that into her statement. It was an off the cuff remark.

I very much agree with you that her mention of Seth Rich was more of a warning shot across the Clinton's bow.
