The Artisan aspect of Martin is amazing, however, the wood smell on the tour is everything.

I inherited a Martin D something or other from my father. He got it maybe in 1940. I never liked it because fretting wore my fingers out. Gibson with flat-wounds was my preference. I gave the Martin to my son, who took it to a luthier who cut down into the string notches to lower the strings. Plays much better.
