Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) kneeled on the House floor Monday night to show solidarity with NFL players defying President Trump to protest police brutality.
Jackson Lee, a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, blasted Trump for attacking NFL players who kneel during the national anthem at games to draw attention to the treatment of African Americans by law enforcement.
Then she took a knee herself.
"I kneel in honor of them. I kneel in front of the flag and on this floor," Jackson Lee declared.
"I kneel in honor of the First Amendment. I kneel because the flag is a symbol for freedom. I kneel because I'm going to stand against racism. I kneel because I will stand with those young men and I'll stand with our soldiers. And I'll stand with America, because I kneel."
Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick first drew controversy last year by kneeling during the national anthem.
Trump revived the debate during a rally in Alabama on Friday, saying, "Wouldn't you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, 'Get that son of a bitch off the field right now. He is fired.'"
He continued to fan the flames over the weekend through multiple tweets, writing on Sunday that "“Sports fans should never condone players that do not stand proud for their National Anthem or their Country. NFL should change policy!”
Multiple team owners and athletes pushed back against Trump, and many linked arms or kneeled during NFL games on Sunday.
And on Monday, the entire Dallas Cowboys team, including owner Jerry Jones, knelt before the national anthem prior to their game against the Arizona Cardinals.
Sanctimonious and a nit wit.
And they had to bring in a 20 ton derrick to get her back up again.
I predicted this a few days ago.
Who is she kneeling in front of?
Someone should ask her if she’s bowing to someone else’s superiority.

Nah, like Rush often says, I know these people like the back of my hand. They are so predictable it’s boring.
What I’m trying to decipher right now is how this latest cultural battle will end. It smells a lot like the “Battle of Same Sex Marriage” where we initially thought we had the upper hand, and instead we ended up getting routed.
When Kraperdick ignited this latest fuse, it definitely felt like we were going to win this one. But as in the fight over Same Sex Marriage, all of the propaganda organs, the RATS and some of the RINOs are starting to line up behind the other side.
What’s different about this battle, though, is that we the little people can enjoin the fight and have a lot to say about its outcome. We’re not simply bystanders at the mercy of some judge and the courts, as was the case for SSM.
So it’s going to come down to how painful we conservatives are willing and able to make it on the sports league, the owners, the sponsors, the broadcasters and the players.
If most conservatives are willing to give up on the “opiate of the masses” for an extended period of time, we’ll win this one. If the addiction is too strong to kick the habit, then we’ll get routed again.
Tough to predict this one right now. Which way do you think it’s going to go?

I can’t give up something I was never involved in. You’d be hard-pressed to find another man my age that’s less interested in sports.
