McCain Says He ‘Can’t Divine’ Why Some GOPers Deny Climate Change
Talking Points Memo ^ | September 10, 2017 | Esme Cribb

Posted on 09/10/2017 5:05:23 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) on Sunday said he can’t guess why some fellow Republicans deny the scientific consensus that climate change exists and is affected by human activity.

“I don’t know because I can’t divine their motives,” McCain said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

“There is things happening with the climate in the world that is unprecedented,” he added. “We have to understand that the climate may be changing and we can take commonsense measures which will not harm the American people.”

McCain also said an agreement President Donald Trump came to with Democrats for a short-term increase in the debt limit “was not an exercise in bipartisanship.”

“The Republicans leaders, Ryan and McConnell, were surprised to hear that he had cut this deal with Chuck and Nancy,” McCain said, referring to House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI), Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), and their Democratic counterparts House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY).

“The proposal that the President accepted, the speaker of the House had just categorically rejected,” McCain said. “So that’s not the way we need to do business.”

It was never the elites that the Aztecs sacrificed on the top of pyramids to feeds the gods so that the sun would rise. FYI the Aztecs have been gone for over 500 years and the sun comes up every-fucking-day.

McVain did not need a brain tumor to develop wacky judgment. He’s been this way for a very long time.

Denying climate change today is very much like denying that Trump (or Hillary) would be elected president twenty-six months ago. No matter how likely or unlikely you then considered the conclusion that a particular candidate would win, it had not yet been proven. Man-made climate change, with the conclusions of catastrophic global warming, catastrophic increases in the numbers and severity of hurricanes, and catastrophic sea level changes is supported by mathematical models of doubtful accuracy, but it is so far from proven that the responsible reaction is to wait for more evidence.

As for the “potentially so catastrophic that we have to act now” crowd . . . nope, as a professional experienced with mathematical models, I don’t accept that silliness. They also say it’s too late to stop the ecological disaster. Why wreck our economy to make minor changes in an unstoppable eventuality? Why give up freedom to big government if the environmental end point will not change? We have time to reflect before acting, and so far reflection and comparisons of the models with actual data suggest that the climate change models are trash.

What about “worst thing that could happen is we clean up the environment more than we need to”, again that is incorrect. If we’re going to spend $44 trillion (a number generated by MIT) to “help the environment”, it would be nice if that actually helped. Imagine spending that much and finding out oops, it was all wasted. Then compare the reduction of CO2 released, for no benefit, with what we could have done in areas where we know there is a benefit for that gigantic amount of money. No, thank you. I’ll wait and make sure we spend responsibly.

If I didn't know better I would have attributed that statement to Maxine.

Pathetic.

McCain is a hero who has sadly become pathetic and gullible in his old age, but he’s not the first nor the last.

Climate Change/Global Warming is the biggest scientific hoax in history and true scientist are doing their best to debunk it to no avail, because it is also the longest running phony, or if you prefer ‘fake’ news story in history. There are so many daily news stories claiming that global warming is real, that a large portion of the population now accepts global warming as fact, when there is absolutely no scientific proof to substantiate these falsehoods.

It’s mind numbing and infuriating, but then again... It’s infuriating trying to explain to somebody who thinks man didn’t land on the moon, that man did land on the moon. And it’s infuriating trying to explain to somebody who thinks Bill Clinton didn’t get impeached that he did in fact get impeached and that he was in fact, and still is fact a pervert. And it’s infuriating trying to explain that Hitler was indeed a Socialist at heart, even though every Socialist will claim to their dying breath that he was a right wing lunatic, instead of a left wing lunatic.

These are the fools and foolishness we suffer.

Actually I don’t think anything going in with the weather is “unprecedented”. My question is does he believe this BS or he just pays lip service to every liberal notion?

Here’s part of Jeremy Clarkson’s (BBC’s Top Gear) expose of NASA’s cloud making machines in the hurricane effected areas...

This could be anthropogenic weather tampering... helping hurricanes along at the whim of the Elites.

Yep, I’m from Arizona. I even remember when he dumped his loyal wife to marry the Budweiser distributors rich daughter.

I just think it would send him up a wall if instead of saying the usual stuff we get people to say “ isn’t it a shame, it’s the tumor you know. He can’t help saying ridiculous things”

Palin gave him a chance, he blew it.

NO ONE DENIES CLIMATE CHANGE.
They deny:
Earth optimum temperature.
What is causing it.
Whether it’s bad or good.
Whether the fix is worth the cost.
Whether the entire world will do its part along with the U.S.
