John Danforth can comfort himself over that if he likes by asserting that Trump doesn’t represent Republicans, but Republicans themselves have been pretty clear over the past 26 months what their view of that is.

The Republican Party stands for the Democrat Party, comrades in the Revolution. The illusion of two sides is being exposed for the sham it has always been.

Another mushy “centrist” (= Leftist) Republican, if I recall correctly. Anti-gun too, wasn’t he, at least to a degree?

They just don’t get it, do they? Every day we THANK GOD Trump doesn’t represent what the Republican party stands for. What the Republican party stands for is identical to the Dems.

Both party’s are bad. That much is crystal clear to a growing number of Americans.

I only stay a registered republican so I can vote for the conservative in the primaries. As soon as a conservative party emerges; I will switch to it.

That Trump is not like people like Danforth is the greatest credit that Trump can ever get in this life.

Danforth was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Family was the owners of Ralston-Purina, they were very wealthy. Top tier wealthy, not just millionaires. He went to all the best private schools in St. Louis, went to Yale, became a lawyer and was handed a job at the top law firm in St. Louis, the one that worked for Purina. Became a partner right away, even though he was a crappy lawyer and had no experience. After a couple years, real legal work bored him, and so he ran for Attorney General of Missouri. His money got him the job. Then he did the only good thing in his entire, unremarkable career: he hired Clarence Thomas. After a short stint as AG, he decided he should be a Senator from Missouri. It was pretty easy to get a Republican nomination in those days, as Democrats historically controlled the state. His money won him the job. There he joined with a group of other midwestern RINOs in the whipped puppy brigade. His closest ally was Richard Lugar. But he did bring Clarence Thomas with him. Too bad he didn't have Thomas' values. He was opposed to Reagan. He strategized how to stymie Reagan without losing support at home. He was a consummate RINO, and if he were starting out today, he would probably be a Democrat. I bet he loves Hillary, and would be fine with her as President, even if it meant amnesty and loss of the Supreme Court and the death of America. Go away, Danforth!

if I thought DJT was just another sell-out RINO, I would have stayed home on election day

we, or a lot of us, do NOT want more McConnell/Ryan/McShame/Lindsay ... NO WAY!

“Haha please feel free to pick on me, if you run out of targets. My 77 y.o. skin has become tough and leathery and I can take the incoming.”

And if your 77 YO skin gets tired, call me, I’m hitting 77 on Wednesday!
Danforth is just another aging GOPe turd, who is all horn and no driveshaft. I’m up for a new party any time Trump decides it’s time to start one.

Trump is representing what the voters want. Whether it is what career politicians want is a different matter.

“Both parties need to clean themselves out and show they are for the people Not their own pockets.”

Unfortunately none of them has arms long enough to reach the flush lever. We’d be lightyears ahead of the game if a plague suddenly wiped out the entire Congress. There are so few good guys there today that offing them would still give us a better result.

Scion of the Ralston Purina fortune. Another Trustifarian like the Bushes, all born with a silver foot in their mouths.

This isn't about right and wrong. It is about class - protecting the privileges of a large group of well-off ne'er do wells that seem to think they are entitled to positions of power in DC. The problem with having power is that either you use it or you lose it. And these guys are all losing it.

You ask “where is the Attorney General?” Hiding because the deep state has a blackmail file on him. Sessions always did trip my gaydar.

From the original RINO, who stabbed the GOP in the back every chance he got. Total leftist. I’m from Missouri and I remember this awful man.

If I remember correctly, Danforth was the republican who broke the filibuster (and his promise) and allowed the so-called assault weapons ban to pass in the early 90’s.
