The White House formally announced its plans to nominate former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman as the ambassador to Russia, signaling its intent to put the one-time Trump campaign critic in a leading diplomatic role.
Huntsman, who sharply criticized President Donald Trump during the 2016 Republican primaries for his statements and rhetoric about women, previously served as ambassador to Singapore under former President George W. Bush and the ambassador to China under former President Barack Obama. He was reportedly offered the position back in March, a move the Trump administration publicly solidified Tuesday....

I’m pretty sure Tillerson has the leeway to hire whomever he wants. Reportedly, Max doesn’t have patience taking counsel from Trump personnel underlings.
Huntsman is a POS who will work AGAINST Trump; and us. It serves NO "good" purpose at all; NONE!
And it won't do ANYTHING whatsoever to stop the "RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA"; it might even exacerbate it/ramp it up, with Huntsman's help!

You haven’t been paying much attention if you think appointing John Huntsman is going to dissuade the lefties any from their Russia narrative.
Nothing is going to dissuade them, so any effort to that end is wasted.
And no, Russia may not be THE COURT OF SAINT JAMES, but it's NOT a "backwater post" at all.

Abby got him the job. She’s much more conservative than he is and is pro Trump. She will keep dad in line.
This is an execrably stupid move and Trump is getting extremely BAD advice/he's being dumb as a box of rocks.

Sure, most, if not all presidents hand out ambassadorships, like candy, to pay off BIG donors and/or friends; however, there's NO good reason, at all, for this !
