No legislative text of Cruz’s proposal is yet available, but this is the gist: As long as a health plan offered at least one Obamacare-compliant plan in a state, the plan would also be allowed to offer non-Obamacare-compliant plans in that state.

However, it might be politically more effective to let Qbamacare fully collapse and then come in as White Knight, with more RINOs joining up, rather than take ownership of Obamacare-lite.

Oops..I read that as new mexico...so yeah the price is believable.

I know someone who would actually fly there to mexico to have dental work done...and take a lot of toothpaste when she went to her family.

I understand what you are trying to say - but if I choose to not engage in things that absolutely DO harm my health - including over-eating stuff that is absolutely known to be detrimental, If I choose to smoke 4 packs of cigarettes a day, or to use illegal drugs (or abuse legal drugs), if I engage in physical activities with a high likelihood of serious injury, if I sit on my butt, eat, watch TV, play games, and do nothing all day while my health goes to crap... why should I expect other, more responsible people to supplement those choices?

Repeal (fully) then actually address the REAL issues (part of which is a heavy hand of government!).

We’ll always pay in one way or another

To some degree, maybe....but we don't pay much for the taker's food or clothes or entertainment or houses or TVs. The reason for this is because those products and services are distributed by a free(er) market. This allows the takers to mainly buy this stuff for themselves.

If saline is going for $700 per bag, the takers will have no choice but to rely on producers to pay for it. If it went for market price they might be able to pay for it themselves.

Tinkering with Obamacare and the insurance industry may be a good idea or it may not but it doesn't solve the problem of health care.

I agree with what you said but the legislators have jumped down the rabbit hole and they’re not coming back. The Dems instituted a new welfare program and Republicans don’t have the huevos to take it away so the next best thing is to leave the rest of us alone.
Not saying I like it. It just is what it is.

but I’m told this is the main conservative ask on the health care bill right now. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is working hard to find a compromise by the end of the week, after the embarrassment of postponing a vote on the legislation until after July 4. <<<

Almost had to stop reading there!.....(you know...name your inside sources /connection and prove your worth ) as the Gate keeper of (”Blog Pimps” which i respect BTW).....

But I'm gonna just gonna read on because it's your Vanity....I'm sure I'll have comment at the end........

My thought at this point is....Turtle?? Turtle McConnel???..Your Hero now??.. GB!

Ted Cruz's "big idea" could be implemented tomorrow regardless of what Congress does. I've said for months that if Congress doesn't pass an effective ObamaCare repeal and/or replacement bill, President Trump can have the Department of Health & Human Services grant waivers for any "non-ObamaCare-compliant" health care plan.

My prediction is that this is exactly what President Trump will do if we get to late 2017 and people start getting 2018 insurance renewal notices with exorbitant hikes in their premiums.

Yeah, but most of the inflationary pressure is BECAUSE of the payment method. Compare stuff like Lasik, that is consumer-pay only. Quality goes up and prices go down.

If the citizenry had kept up with being vigilant, they never would have put up with any gov’t involvement in personal healthcare or any other Federal intrusion into our lives. Now we are dealing with an ignorant people and their corrupt gov’t.

I just see no Constitutional fix as long as our gov’t and society are brainwashed into expecting “fixes” from the Feds.

The mandate (’tax’) is a deal killer as far as I’m concerned. This a salient reason so many of us were apoplectic over Obamacare, and the Stupid party treats it like a bump in their road
Maybe Cruz can go back to the Mexican drug lord well and squeeze it out of them.
