The new Congress was sworn in on Tuesday, and the first thing it did was prepare to repeal Obamacare.
Senate Budget Committee Chair Michael Enzi (R-WY) introduced a budget resolution Tuesday that includes "reconciliation instructions" that enable Congress to repeal Obamacare with a simple Senate majority. Passing a budget resolution that includes those instructions will mean that the legislation can pass through the budget reconciliation process, in which bills cannot be filibustered.
That means Republicans will only need 50 of their 52 members in the Senate, and a bare majority in the House, to pass legislation repealing the Affordable Care Act. According to the Wall Street Journal, the budget resolution could be passed by both houses as early as next week....

I’m a WINMOUS too.
Please don’t start a 10 or 12 step program. I like me winning.
>> The GOP needs to use a tremendous amount of care.
BS. The market can take care of itself.
but they most of all have got to KILL THE MANDATE THAT YOU HAVE TO BUY INSURANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Yes.
Win Win
Saves people money right off the bat.
Yes, the market can take care of itself; unfortunately, it does not take care of the truly disadvantaged, of which there are several millions. As a Christian, I find it morally repugnant to abandon them. Mr. Trump seems to agree.
First thing, get rid of the so called Tax Penalty people are paying just because they can draw a Breath.
Let that sink in for a while. The Republicans just got the Government off the backs and out of the Wallets of a whole bunch of Americans.
Then it’s time for the Art of the Deal.
My annual cost went from $14k to $23k. And I’m barely middle class. Not only did the govt take away $40k since Obamacare, it also took away our preferred hospital, our doctors/pediatricians, and our local clinics. Don’t know what this disaster cost you, but I’d rather go with the market.
Did you vote for the ACA?
That is how Pelosi and her DemocRATS passed it in the first place. Turnabout is fair play.
Bravo!!
Compassion with other people’s money is theft. I support my idea is compassionate worthy causes on my own, I can make those choices without the government forcing my money to act contrary to my choices. Mr Crockett was correct when he learned that the government isn’t suppose to be in the compassionate service industry.
I applaud your concern, donate to the charity of your choice.
I’m a Christian too. Do you read our book? Forcing others to help those in need is what’s repugnant. If you encounter someone in need, help them. I do. The rest is unworkable Marxist nonsense.
Sixteen days until he actually becomes president, and we're already winning so much my head is spinning. Does this guy ever sleep?
Not kidding, Trump is going to put on a show of strength, leadership, vision and resolve like this country has never seen.
So much of our business/economy has been restrained, denied and held back for so long that the entire system is trembling, just waiting for the tiniest excuse to explode and come roaring back like never before.
What a perfect storm, what a perfect president for right now. Thank you, God.
Screw that WA 12-step bs, FEED THE ADDICTION!!!
“As a Christian, I find it morally repugnant to abandon them.”
Steve, you must have a lot more money than all the rest of us if you are willing to let the government force you to pay for a service you never receive to the tune of around $25,000/year. Many families have a $10,000-$15,000 deductible before they can use any benefits from their insurance for which they pay $500-$1500/month. Even then, you may have to pay 30% of whatever service you use when the policy kicks in. The fact is, it could take the entire year for a family to spend up to the deductible and then haha, guess what! The year is over and you never got anything from your payment of your monthly premiums. It is definitely forced theft by the government. The people who are getting it “free” are also overusing the healthcare that I cannot afford to pay for in the deductible period! Just ask doctors and hospital workers- I have been told that by several!
Who gets to decide what is morally repugnant and who gets to decide who is disadvantaged?
I have not had time to keep up, but my single most important criteria for replacing ObamaCare is to get the Federal government OUT OF THE HEALTHCARE BUSINESS!!!!! Health insurance should be market based conducted under a basic framework outlined by law, but flexible enough to permit innovation and true competition.
So far as providing healthcare for the poor, do it under a subsidy program block-granted to the states, with the states having the latitude to establish basic community health care clinics.
But the key to an acceptable replacement is to eliminate the Federal government’s micromanagement of healthcare.
In Pennsylvania, being a chronic substance abuser entitles you to much the same. Illegal drugs which could get you fired (or not hired) if you test positive for them are still mandated to be completely covered under every insurance plan sold in the commonwealth. There is a rehab place which runs constant commercials with the slogan "chemical dependence can happen to anyone at anytime." I feel like shouting back:
Let insurance companies peddle their policies across state lines and you'll see prices drop!
