Donald Trump is either a mad genius who has cracked the media code in a way no politician before him was able to do, or he’s a kind of political Mr. Magoo, stumbling randomly about yet achieving one success after another. We may never know which it is.
But if we’re going to maintain our democracy, we have to figure out how to deal with the way Trump successfully manipulates the media.
Perhaps, as some have suggested, Trump tweeted his ridiculous lie about millions of fraudulent votes on Sunday in order to distract people from this lengthy investigation in the New York Times of the overseas partnerships that present unprecedented conflict of interest problems for his foreign policy. But even if that wasn’t his intent, it’s what happened — and he accomplished some other things as well.
The first thing it does when Trump kicks off a frenzy like this one is thrill his supporters (and I’ll admit that I was among those who said that just playing to his base wouldn’t be enough to win him the election). Here’s how the cycle works. First, Trump says something outrageously false, but which his supporters either believe already or would like to believe. Then Trump gets criticized in the media for it, and his supporters say, “There they go again, the liberal anti-Trump media.” Instead of convincing everyone that the claim was false, the criticism only reinforces for Trump’s fans the idea that nothing the media says can be believed, which further undermines their ability to act as neutral arbiters in any debate....

Do any of these media knotheads remember Barack Obama inviting them to vote illegally and that they would suffer no consequences?
The media wants Trump to prove its not a lie even though they say it is.
Now about the media proving that there isn't any voter fraud when anyone with a scintilla of reason knows that there is. And, they know that it is the Democrats that commit the crime.

What he (Trump) defeated is the Stalinist-Soviet-Style propaganda machine of the Marxist democrat party. And what a Herculean task it was, to have defeated them. Bravo! Way to go Donald Trump!
Now hoping we will create an actual MSM, with real journalists, who will dedicate themselves to do what they are supposed to do, as outlined in the Constitution-Pursue the truth, and inform and protect the people.
Full disclosure - I’m a newspaper reporter, one of the very few conservatives in the field - so to the gist of this — the very nature and the tone of the piece, apparently acceptable for publication in a claimed-to-be-newspaper-of-record, the WaPo, shows why the news media have sown the seeds of their own destruction.
“The Conspiracy Theorist in Chief” “Mr. Magoo” “mad genius” “Trump’s ridiculous lie” (about millions of illegal votes) “outrageous claims” “lunatic radio host” “Trump has assaulted democracy itself” (the most risible of the pejorative ad hominems) “tax cuts for the wealthy” (never mind that they are tax cuts for the middle class and low-income as well LOL) “Trump’s next ludicrous claim” —
I approached the piece with genuine curiosity. Was there truly sinister media manipulation? Or is it Trump bypassing a shopworn, archaic and hostile chattering class?
Soon it became clear the only illumination the article would provide is how unhinged and deranged American journalists are, WEEKS after Nov. 8.
Perhaps the news media is just reaping a long-overdue harvest, it’s getting its just desserts.
If the media are being ignored by a furious 50 percent or more of the USA, or if they are being outflanked by a president-elect as clever as President Reagan — isn’t that because the media brought it upon themselves?

Because the news media long ago forgot its true role that the Founding Fathers intended for it as an important component of the American Experiment. The Founders imagined that the media would never become monolithic and never adhere only to one political view. They erred in that belief but at least left in place the mechanism to overcome media bias: “The best antidote to bad speech is more speech.”

As the news media has become more female in composition, so it has become more female in orientation. Thus, it’s no wonder that as the inherent flaw of men is aggression, the inherent flaw that flowered in news media is vanity.
