Democratic Electoral College Voter Says He Won’t Cast Ballot For Clinton

The Democratic elector from Washington — a state Clinton is all but certain to win — called the presidential candidate a “criminal” and said he won’t cast his ballot for her.

Calling Hillary Clinton a “criminal,” a Democratic Electoral College voter from Washington state has vowed not to cast his ballot for the Democratic nominee if she wins the popular vote in his state.

Robert Satiacum told the Associated Press Friday that Clinton “will not get my vote, period.” Satiacum, a member of the Puyallup Tribe and former Bernie Sanders supporter, said he believes Clinton has “done nothing but flip back and forth” and does not sufficiently care about Native Americans.

“This is a time we all need to stand up and speak out,” he said.

Satiacum also does not plan to vote for Republican nominee Donald Trump.

Clinton is expected to win Washington, which would mean she would theoretically get all of the state’s 12 electoral college votes. Satiacum, who is an elector in the Electoral College, was expected to cast one of those votes.

The Electoral College is made up of 538 electors from all 50 states and the District of Columbia. A presidential candidate needs at least 270 electoral votes to win the White House.

Electors typically cast ballots that reflect the popular vote in their states. In other words, if a candidate wins a state in November, the electors usually honor that result and cast their ballots for the same candidate.

Electors, however, are not constitutionally required to vote in line with the popular vote. Some states do have laws penalizing electors who deviate from the popular vote, and according to the AP, Satiacum faces a $1,000 fine for not voting for Clinton.

Satiacum said he doesn’t care about the fine, and has heard from other electors who thanked him for speaking out. He did not immediately respond to a BuzzFeed News request for comment Friday, but first raised the possibility of not voting for Clinton last month.

“I’m not going to be forced to go in there and pick out your poison,” he told KING-TV. “Not happening. Maybe this will start with something, we’ll all stand up and speak up.”

That would be GREAT if Trump won by that one vote. Talk about drama and riots afterwards...

I wouldn’t cast a ballot for her either. She’s an unindicted felon. Voting for her would be aiding and abetting a criminal in order for her to be able to pardon herself.

If it comes down to one vote, he will vote for Hillary.

I bet the Hillary campaign and liberal media would go into MAJOR THIRD DEGREE MELTDOWN. If say Hillary "wins", Tuesday by handful (say 5-10) electoral votes but instead of conceding Trump just calmly says, "The election isn't over until the electoral college votes, I'm go to spend the next couple months meeting with Hillary electors and talking to them about my plans to make America great again and ask them to change their vote to me.

Can you seriously imagine the nuclear explosion in the media!

“If it comes down to one vote, he will vote for Hillary.”

not only that, we had enough of the elector conspiracy theory in 2012.

What are the rules for electors? Once they are named is it cast in stone or can they be replaced at the drop of a hat?

The left would find their “one man stands alone”. Very dangerous for our democracy but perhaps its our time to change the rules.

Call it a crisis of conscience or whatever but I hope this really starts a wave through the electoral college of delegates.

I can only imagine that he is a plant to later justify blackmailing Trump electors to not vote for Trump, throwing the election to the House of Representatives.

Push comes to shove, ‘rats stick together like glue.

Quite honestly. If Clinton gets 269 votes to Trumps 268, she’lll likely call it 270 regardless, move it, and tell everyone try and stop me. And the feckless GOPe wouldn’t dare. Just sayin’

Trump will NOT win by that one vote. A majority, that is, 270 votes is required to win. If this guy votes for someone other than Hillary but not Donald Trump, there is no way that is voting for someone else or casting a blank ballot will give Trump the 270 electoral votes to win.

If Hillary is presumed to be the President-elect with 270 votes to 268 votes for Trump and this guy does not vote for her. Neither candidate will receive the 270 votes required and the House of Representatives will decide which of the of the three presidential candidates gets to be President with each state getting one vote with twenty-six twenty-six votes required to be elected President.

If this guy is smart, he will vote for himself and then lobby the state delegations to vote for him instead of either Trump or Clinton.

That is not how it works. Without 270, the election goes straight to the HoR.

No, that’s not how it SUPPOSED to work. But with the Clinton’s any thing is possible. Even a coup. Like I said, they’ll do what they want and dare people to stop them. They’ll declare that the faithless elector had no right to do that and ignore it.

Or do you think that Clinton is above causing a Constitutional crisis.
