"What is Aleppo?" It is many things, but let's hope among them that it is the turning point in a presidential campaign that has until now been dangerously dismissive of the crucial decisions the next US president will face the second they step into the Oval Office.
In a campaign season where shocking moments have come all too frequently, the Aleppo question was another stunner. It happened Thursday morning, on MSNBC's "Morning Joe." It was a shocking exchange between the Libertarian presidential candidate, Gov. Gary Johnson, and one of the show's panelists, Mike Barnicle.
Barnicle: "What would you do if you were elected about Aleppo?"
Johnson: "About...?"
Barnicle: "Aleppo"
Johnson: "And what is Aleppo?"
Barnicle: "You're kidding."
Johnson: "No."
Barnicle proceeded to explain that Aleppo is a city in Syria at the center of that country's civil war. Johnson replied, "Got it," and with that he declared that "With regard to Syria I do think it's a mess." He went on to explain his views on the country, but at this stage it was all pointless. Who cares what Johnson thinks about Syria now? He knows nothing about it. His opinion is meaningless.
And he's disqualified from becoming president....

The media must kill Gary Johnson because he takes more votes from Hillary than Trump.
I’m thinking that Johnson’s little gaff isn’t going to amount to much at all as far as rearranging the furniture. It will be forgotten in less than a week.
Exactly. 99.9% of all “Democrats” with a “college education” don’t know what the heck Aleppo is. LOL! Barnicle Bill went a little overboard on this one.
At least he didn’t ask, “what’s up with that dog food brand?”
That was good.
Fast too.

Who gives a rat’s ass about Aleppo?
Seriously, it’s not our problem.
If Johnson had a decent prep team, they would have trained him to respond to such trickery with “Where did you get that? Did you fabricate or plagiarize again, Mister Barnicle?”
I’m not voting for the guy, but he actually comes off sympathetic here. It felt like a deliberate takedown. Why not just ask him about Syria? Are we to believe the majority of the Morning Joe audience is so urbane as to be familiar with a specific area in the country?
Johnson: "Nothing. I would continue to give them Purina like I always have. WTH does that have to do with the Middle East anyways?"
That's a no-brainer.
Johnson or Stein would make a fine choice for all those BernieBots, whose candidate would have been nominated, if the DNC hadn't shafted him.
This! You will see the Libertarian candidate attacked by the MSM far harder than they have ever been attacked before. Its just the beginning.
Johnson voters are too mellow to care and he acts as a vote sucker against Clinton.
Great actor i hated him in Road house
and everyone knows Allepo is a cross between an antelope and a hippo
They want to smoke it.
Winner Post #4. Not bad. Not bad.
As opposed to 99.9% of Americans who do’t know who HE is.
