National Committee of Asian American Republicans
Asian GOP ^

Posted on 07/09/2016 12:41:39 AM PDT by Doreener

Mission of the National Committee of Asian American Republicans:

Raise the awareness in Asian Communities about the importance of participating in the political process, which has a great impact on everyone's life, for future generations, and for the fate of this great nation.

Introduce, explain, and promulgate the Republican values and principles that are similar to those of Asians (merit, hard work, self-responsibility, family values, and etc).

Examine the stereotypes within political parties that prevail in our communities; rationalize what policies or platforms of which party reflects our values; examine in what aspects who better represents our interests and the long term development of our country; and clear the myths formed through years of misinformed propaganda; and think out-of-the-box.

Form the organization in our communities nationwide to efficiently and effectively:

Share the thoughts, findings, and collateral material in our respective languages as well as in English, and with respect of our cultural background.

Together, help each other to participate in local/national politics and public services, such as to vote, join town-hall and local meetings, and get our voices heard; to contribute time, energy, and funds in the political process.

Facilitate the relationship between our local groups and Republican local chapters and clubs, catalyzing our involvement in mainstream politics.

Discover talents at different stages of our lives; train and promote the perspectives so that we can engender political representatives or public servants; facilitate the proper representation of our community in the government and party structure, as well as on boards of public enterprises.

Work with different sections and organizations of our communities for our common causes, including business communities, cultural associations, educational institutions, ethnic media, and etc.

Think collectively how our flawed governments and political system can reform itself; share our thoughts with other communities, and promote the structural reforms as well as the operational improvement for a more effective, transparent, and accountable government that truly represents people who put them there, instead of the special interests.

Harness technology so as to energize the grassroots movement; enable the connections bridging the geographical hurdle and cultural differences of organizations; make the financial operation efficient and transparent; and unleash the power of big data to revolutionize the way communities are engaged for effective results, accountability, and improvements.

Our communities have been experiencing unprecedented change since 2013 at the grassroots level. It is problematic when we put our heads down and only take care of our own little space, or hope that all our public affairs are taken care of by others without our involvement. We are now learning and wondering what we can do, where we should go, and what the best solutions are for our communities and our nation, especially when these impact directly on our lives and the lives of our children. It is now the right time to organize and make our choices based on our values, principles, and vision for the long-term prosperity of this great nation.

Why Asians vote Dem makes NO SENSE!

They are so hard working, successful and should want tax cuts, business incentives, and not having their money given to people who dont want to work!!

I think a NC of Asian American Republicans is GREAT!

I remember (to my disappointment) reading that 70% of Asian voters voted for Obama during the last election.

I lost a good Chinese friend over that vote.

I was born in South Korea, proud American by choice. I’ve never understood why the vast majority of Asian Americans vote Democrat either. I am the black sheep of the family for sure, and political discussions with my family members are exercises in futility of the highest order.

Why Asians (and Blacks and Hispancs) vote Democrat does make sense.

Most people do not vote on issues and ideology. They vote on who appears to be friendly and their friend.

Some Republicans go out of their way to appear unfriendly.
They make stereotypical ignorant assumptions about others. For example, Americans of Laotian ancestry are extremely anti=communist. The national leader of the Laotian Republican organization and his Bhuddist temple were strong supporters of the extreme right wing libertarian leaning State Senator in the Bhuddist temple area. Their office was in the offices of the extreme right wing Family Taxpayer Network offices.

But ignorant Republicans, and Tea Partiers and anti-immigrant voices assumed the Laotians were the enemy and went out of their way to alienate them... not on the issues but with ad hominem attacks... associating the Bhuddist temple with Islamist extremists. Totally ignorant. But effective in driving the 2d and 3d generation Americans of Laotian ancestry to the Democrats.

But it isn’t just conservative Republicans.

Asians try to get into the regular/establishment GOP. They are made to feel un-welcome. The establishment only wants them for a photo-op and not for meaningful participation. They conclude the GOP is anti-Asian.

Of course, the Asian experience is true of everyone outside the establishment. When pro-lifers are kept out of the establishment the pro-lifers think the establishment is pro-abort. When pro-choicers are kept out of the establishment the pro-choicers think the establishment is pro-life. When women are kept out of the establishment they think it is anti-woman. When Hispanics or Blacks are kept out they think think similar.

Everyone outside the establishment is wrong in their conclusion. You are outside the establishment because the establishment is a closed club. They don’t want nobody what nobody sent.

But there is a 3d reason Asians are Democrats. Many Asians are small businessmen, owners of gas stations, quickie marts, restaurants, laundramats, etc. Many of these businesses are in Republican areas...suburbs and small towns. These small businesses feel like they are constantly hassled by zoning, building and health inspectors of these Republican areas. They feel like they are tageted for harrassment and obstacles to entrepreneurship. There is a lot of evidence to support that.

Hispanic businessmen also resent this harrassment by Republican code enforcement. So the ethnic businessmen who would be expected to hold Republican values are Democrat.

It is a matter of who is friendly and their friend.
