Bob Dole and I agree about Newt.
Trump will need someone smart enough, yet flexible enough to go with the flow. Newt understands how washington runs, and who usually helps whom.

Dole gives a reasonable position. At least Newt did some good for USA (contract for America, he got most of it for us)....and he obviously wants the job.
(Romney and Cruz are working to elect the D’s now...)

Bob needs to stfu ... Newt for chief of staff not vp. Newt knows how the inside works. He can make things happen for Trump logistically. His vp needs to be someone the rest of the independents can get around

No to Newt. He’s inside. He’s establishment. He’s yesterday’s bread. He’s everything Trump is not supposed to be.

Trump could tap him for ideas, but not as a running mate. The running mate has to be outside the box, just as Trump is outside the box. Newt is ideological and this election has little to do with ideology.

Well what if Trump DOESN’T want Newt, or someone else, what if Trump wants who HE wants...he is right now the head of the Republican Party, not Dole...

Nancy Pelosi’s sidekick could never be acceptable for VP, but if Dole wants to push him that would be okay. Maybe they will get into a shoving match and provide some entertainment. Neither of them are competent leaders.

It’s hard to know what to make of Newt sometimes. At times, he’s brilliant, and then at other times he veers off into shallow, politically correct talking points. It’s like he’s got one foot inside the Uniparty, and one foot out. I would be comfortable with him as chief of staff because I think that’s where his talents are most suited. But I think we need someone more ideologically in sync with Trump, like Sessions, for VP.

Newt is not VP material. His time has passed. I agree with the consensus here that Newt should be Chief of Staff or an advisor.

Newt is too old. By choosing him, Trump would be making the same mistake that Schrub did: choosing Cheney, who was too old to run for president.

By failing to groom a VP successor, in the 2004 election, Schrub contributed yet another factor to the subsequent Bath House election disaster.

The only problem I have with Newt is his love for Nancy.

When Donald Trump goes over the line and says something wrong, like in the case of John McCain, IMHO, he should admit when he's wrong, and apologize.

It doesn't make anybody less of a person for apologizing when they've said something wrong. A dogmatic refusal to apologize does not sit well with me.

Donald Trump had better get a lot more serious thatn he has been thus far. I know he's accomplished a lot, but I think he could be far ahead of where he is now if he just ran an overall smarter, more thoughtful campaign.

Honestly, IMHO (and you know I've been a STAUNCH supporter of Trump's), he has been running a haphazard campaign thus far. He's underachieved. He's going to have to up his game significantly if he wants to win a landslide. There are no sure things in life, besides death and taxes.

What I mean is that Donald Trump has barely scratched the surface of his potential to appeal to the electorate. He could be miles ahead of where he is already if he simply exercised more civility and didn't hold onto grudges, for instance.

And I have to agree with critics like New Gingrich when he said Trump needs to "knock it off" with some things. Gratuitous insults to a veteran, POW, and former GOP Presidential candidate is one of those things. I dislike McCain myself, but for his politics, not his military service record.

Donald Trump would win this election hands down, if he could just listen to some of the advice of his closest advisors. Again, I say that he's run a far from perfect campaign, and if he wins while performing at his current sub-optimal level, I think he'll be fortunate.

Vote Trump!

“the 1996 Republican nominee who said he spoke with Trump last week — also suggested Trump apologize to Arizona Sen. John McCain and New Mexico Gov. Susanna Martinez “

Another solid endorsement...LOL. Better than nothing, I guess. I’d like to see some people start APOLOGIZING TO TRUMP for treating him with disdain when all he wants to do is EXACTLY the top job of every president, which is to protect the country from outsider enemies.
