These are the scenarios I see for a contested convention. In every case many become disaffected and refuse to vote GOP come November. All scenarios produce the same result: President Hillary Clinton. The party is not going to be unified by shenanigans at the convention, especially nominating someone who didn’t even bother to campaign.
That’s what the story said.
The only way the party will be unified is to avoid the convention shenanigans. That means someone has to come into the convention with more than enough delegates to lock down the nomination and prevent shenanigans.
Yes we must now unify and the former “Establishment” can hold their nose this time!!
Beware of anyone and I mean anyone who even talks about a contested convention. They either have an axe to grind or are Red Forman fodder.
Let us see what shananigans the GOPe try yo slip by us before we do that
I don’t see why.
The Dems view the Republican circus as a circus. And it is.
Let them think that all the way until November 02. I know we will. Let them get complacent and think HRC is their destiny.
Their heads will explode no matter what. Who cares?
I for one don’t really care what Barbara Boxer or John Boehner or Pete King or Al Sharpton or Allan Grayson says. These are idiots. I’d like the Rep party to accumulate lots of practice ignoring them. Instead of surrendering to them. Make sense?
The GOP is dead. Time to form a new coalition. If unification means chumming up with the McCain/Rove/Romney/Jeb wing then count me out.
Some in the #NeverTrump faction claim Hillary is the lesser of two evils.
Although there are probably a number of ordinary people who have signed onto the #nevertrump bunch, the driving force and financing comes from the neo-con artists and their open borders toadies, all of whom migrated like a virus from the democrat party to the republican party starting in the late 70’s and particularly 1980’s.
The #nevertrump bunch continue to talk about a 3rd party run centering around a retired Marine general who few have ever heard of. I heard Kristol putting this out there the other day. I’m guessing they will call their 3rd party the Disgruntled Neo-Con and Open Borders party.
Ain’t gonna happen.
Now we are going to unify? We don’t need the Republican Party to beat Hillary, we don’t need women voters, we don’t need Hispanics or any other minority for that matter.
I think the party will be unified come next Wednesday.
John Boehner, the Arch Rhino, thinks his drinking, golfing, tweating buddy, Donald Trump, would be just fine. He was never a threat to the Rino establishment, in fact he financed it having given The Arch Rhino $100,000.
We could start here by not insulting each other and calling fellow freepers names and asking for them to be zotted for merely disagreeing with the current Free Republic Zeitgeist.
No, that is just too much to ask.
Carry on.
Just received my latest “Second Ballot Initiative fund raising letter from Ted the toad.
Until he shuts up his “leader bashing” crapola, and kisses the ring of the presumptive nominee and follows his own advice to Kasich (who also cannot make the cut without a contested convention...) and drops out;
THERE will be NO reconciliation according to Ted’s own mouthy letters begging me for dough. Not a damned thing about stopping hillary just “stop donald”.
I have come to hate him politically.
Good riddance. Most of them will quietly vote for Trump in the general.
But if Trump is denied, I WILL STAY HOME. I don't care if Medusa herself is the Rat nominee.
Hillary, the lesser of two evils? Even Satan is the lesser of two evils compared to hillary.
My response is this: when the phone rang at 3 am with Benghazi burning and our ambassador being murdered, Hillary didn't answer it. Say what you will about Trump, but he will answer the phone.
According to the latest RealClearPolitics polls, in head-to-head competitions, Hillary Clinton beats Donald Trump by 7.3 percent, while, on the other hand, John Kasich beats Hillary by 7.5 percent. In the middle, Hillary beats Ted Cruz by 3.3%.
The problem for the Republicans is not disunity, it’s that Republican primary voters have failed to support the best candidate to beat Hillary — John Kasich. However, all is not lost — yet — since Republican primary voters have also failed to give a majority of their votes to the candidate who has the worst chance of beating Hillary — Donald Trump.
John Kasich or Ted Cruz will either be nominated at the Republican Convention, or, if Donald Trump is nominated instead, John Kasich, as Governor of Ohio, will spend the Convention calling out the Ohio National Guard to protect Clevelanders from the violent organized protests that the George Soros/Black Lives Matter/Bill Ayres psychiatric wing of the Democratic party is planning to unleash if Trump wins the nomination.
There is still a chance to save Cleveland and the Republican party. Let’s hope Republican voters in the remaining primary states rise to the challenge so we can save America from Hillary.
