Donald Trump no doubt had a big win in New York. Hes on track to claim nearly all of the states 98 delegates in a victory that saw him not only smash the 50 percent mark which allowed him to gain extra delegates but win nearly every region of the state.
But according to the widely respected Nate Silver, writing for his political website, FiveThirtyEight, Trump is still also on track to come up short at the convention. The main question is, will he get close enough to required 1,237 that he can maneuver his way over the top with uncommitted delegates, or do we go to a second ballot, in which case Ted Cruz is in good position to win.
Silver writes:
If Trump finishes with 90 delegates from New York and matches the panels projections in the remaining states, hed eventually finish with 1,191 delegates close enough to 1,237 that he might be able to get there with uncommitted delegates, especially uncommitted delegates from Pennsylvania . . .
Im not sure weve learned as much about how Trump will perform outside the Northeast. Its been a highly regional campaign so far, and Trump will probably still need to win both Indiana and California to clinch 1,237 without uncommitted delegates. If he loses both states, were probably headed for a multi-ballot convention, which would be trouble for Trump. If he splits Indiana and California, Trump will be right on a knifes edge thats the case where the extra two or three dozen delegates hell pick up in the Northeast tonight and next week could be the most helpful to him.
Trump has been very smart to discipline his message. People already get that hes a tough guy and would be a strong leader not cowed by the demands for political correctness. His main problem is that there are many who fear he might be, uh, too strong a leader, and one who hasnt particularly thought the issues through. By cooling his rhetoric, Republicans may slowly forget Bad Donald and feel more comfortable voting for him.
And given that he toned it down considerably since losing Wisconsin two weeks ago, that might be part of what we saw in New York in addition to hometown boy makes good and Texan denigrates New York Values and then asks for New York Votes.
Bunch of idiots out there, basically playing with themselves trying
to figure out how trump won’t win.
After next week it will be nothing but weeping and gnashing of the teeth as reality sets in.
The RNC isn't going to have a brokered convention to get Cruz nominated!
Give it up! It’s over!
It’s quite simple.....Ted Cruz has worn out his welcome. HIs fifteen minutes of fame disappeared the day he uttered his hateful “New York Values” rants. You wasting your time hangng in there with this lunatic, nutcase, loser. Glenn Beck & Cruz;s Dad...both 100% Looney Tunes!!! Ya gotta be kidding me. LOL

Roll dem bonz!
Never mind, he won the entire south other than Texas, Michigan, Hawaii, Nevada and Arizona.
"REGIONAL ELECTION" ? Really? Trump, by next Wednesday morning will have won all but one stats on the EASTERN SEABOARD and many in the middle of the country too! KaSICKO has only won his own state, which he is governor of and should bow out!
There is absolutely NO WAY for Cruz to get to the 123u7 delegates, even IF he manages to quietly STEAL more delegates. He too should call it quits, but sadly, those two jerks won't do the honorable thing and leave the race.
A contested convention will NOT help anyone; not even the talking heads, pundits, and CRUZ-AIDE drinkers here.
Trump has OVER 50% in many of the up coming 5 states holding their primaries next Tuesday. He'll win ALL of those states and beat expectations!
It's past time for EVERYONE to awake and face reality!
But, those don’t count. The only states that matter are CO and WY./s
He actually is well-respected, especially in polling and data circles, but you believe whatever you want to believe. It’s a free country.
He is still on Cruz payroll. Now he will loop this article 100 times.
“But, those dont count. The only states that matter are CO and WY./s”
And Utah, you forgot Utah!
Please explain to me a scenario where Ted Cruz gets the nomination that doesn’t hopelessly splinter the party and hand the Presidency to Hillary. Or STFU.
Give it up! Its over!
You’re welcome to your own advice.
The numbers don’t lie.
